First SFA Trailer

It really isn't. It's a fun little thing to connect the various shows

Online fan opinions appear to be allergic to fun, and have a narrow perspective of what Star Trek is. If it doesn't land just right, the Goldilocks Trek, then it is completely wrong, full of memberberries, and the production teams are lazy hacks who don't get Star Trek.

Never mind how short the trailer is, or that it's purpose is to generate discussion. Never mind that the initial framing device is that this is the first Starfleet Academy class at the San Francisco campus in like a 100 plus years so they just might reference past events for the cadets.

Nope, it's just pure laziness on the part of the production team. No reason to get excited at all.

I do hope all those who are unexcited just execute their better sense of control:

I lost all respect for RMB when he deliberately spoiled the Guardian of Forever twist in Discovery season 3. It was just pure pettiness on his part and went further to show his true character than just about anything else he has ever done.

And, yeah, his love Picard season 3 was purely because Lord Terry stroked his ego. I honestly don't blame Terry for heading things off at the pass a little bit. It seems to me that he read RMB like a book and knew exactly how to mitigate the otherwise inevitable negative hyperbolic onslaught from him.

For me it was when he tweeted that the woman who wrote an episode he didn't like deserved to be sexually assaulted in public.

RMB actively doxxed people critical of the Axanar fanfilm scam on Twitter when he was still attached to it about ten years ago. His behavior made him persona non grata with Paramount, which is why the various Trek blu-rays were solo produced by Roger Lay after 2014.

He's been a known asshole for a long time.

^ All of which came to my attention after the Guardian thing. To be honest, he wasn't really much on my radar at all. I knew he existed and that he posted here occasionally, but that's about it.

I wanted it in the 23rd and be a Kirk and Spock at the academy show, but what are you gonna do?

I would have like to see starfleet academy at the 25th century. Maybe a visit from members of the D crew occasionally. I.just like the tech better as they kept the lcars etc. But they want to promote the 32nd century now. A century that seems very boring and too easy to me. Also too much the same after 1000 years. Std went too far into the future. I would have preferred that the discovery went to the 25th century. I mean people are still thinking about Kirk in 1000 years. Come on. Lol

They look nothing like that.
Same stiff collar, same sharp arm/shoulder cut, same generic light grey, and same pocket location.

Remove the thin division stripes and add in the very aggressive looking com-badge and they'd be right at home serving the Empire.

I wish they would have set tis in the early 25th. I have no interest in the 32nd century. Also they still haven't gotten rid of the neon lights on the bridge. Nope. Lol
I would have given a 25th Century version of this show a try. The post-Discovery version is a non-starter for me. Plus, I just can't see the look of things and technology changing so little over the course of more than a seven centuries. The milieu in that show should be unrecognizable to us. (I don't care if Dilithium went away for a while. Look at our planet 700 years ago, and the tech curve in Trek is far steeper.)

Exactly. 900 or so from SNW/TOS. Over 700 from the current tng time period. The tech is better but they still have a standard bridge, window viewscreen, helm etc. Its just bad writing. Also the academy just happens to still treat former captains like Kirk, Sisko like Rock Stars. I bet civilian clothing still as like something put of a Walmart.

I found it laughable that the current starfleet still needed dilithium and they were nowhere near getting a spore drive like Discovery had. Really? It was just mobd boggling bad writing.

I wonder if Empress Georgiou will show up in this show? She could potentially fly her space station ship in to help resolve a cliffhanger, acting as a Deus Ex Machina?
