What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

The 70's ruled, arguably the greatest pop culture decade.
Incorrect. The greatest pop culture decade was unarguably the 80's.

Four of the six classic Trek films. The beginning of TNG. The Empire Strikes Back. Aliens. Terminator/Terminator 2. The A-Team. Knight Rider. Airwolf. The beginning of the Disney Renaissance. Cheers. Night Court. Johnny Carson and David Letterman. I mean, I could just keep going on and on with TV and movies to say nothing of music.

The real problem with 'Star Trek ', is that it is about exploration and research. Not necessarily the People. Why? Realistically if we were watching the actual people do you think that the dialog would be any were near what it is?

I drive a school bus for a living, and the two-way radio is to be used only minimally. Why? In case of an actual emergency.

Such that the channel must be kept quiet clear.

This means that unless it absolutely job related on the bridge, communication would be non existent.
A "relaxed" bridge isn't paying attention. Alarm bells and flashing lights are all very well, but if they keep you from hearing important communications then you are in real trouble.

So where?

Off the bridge, break room, dinning room...

Star Trek is very much about "The People". Exploration and research is just away to introduce people into dramatic situations. And not necessarily "realistic" ones.

Don't confuse Starfleet's mission with Star Trek's.
