What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

Doesn't answer the question if Berman was part of the casting process. Which was what I inquired about.

As Executive Producer and Co-Creator, I can’t imagine he wasn’t involved in casting. Never seemed like the type to hand things off to others.

As has been mentioned, Wang had several problems with not showing up to set on time, and other unprofessional behavior in that vein.
Garrett owned up to it and said he fixed his tardiness issue.

If I’m running a business, and I’ve got an employee who’s continually late and being an unproductive drag on resources coming up to me demanding a raise or a promotion, the last thing I’m gonna do is just give it to them because everyone else is getting them.
So no second chances for people apparently.

Think about it logically, he's running TNG along with DS9 and prepping for the eventual ST TNG movies.

If he was there, why would he have hired her?
He didn't fit his "image" of what he wanted out of his actress.

So he sent his casting directors to do their jobs.

Because he's the guy in charge of Star Trek. From what I gather casting includes people from the studio, advertising, production and network (if applicable). So yeah, the guy in charge of the franchise is probably in the room. "Running" TNG would be just one of his responsibilities

I do always get a bit of a chuckle when these arguments focus on Deep Space Nine. Everything that is wrong with the show is because of that dastardly Rick Berman. Everything right is the because of other people.

Well, as we all know, producers are evil people who hate the fans except when they don't and it's a constant war on production sets to get things snuck past the evil guys to win a victory for the fans.

Feels appropriate to post this again.

But then why would he pick a actress that didn't meet what he wanted?

He obviously wanted a specific look, went out of his way to harass Terry Farrell about it after being hired.
