What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

and yet I went to see Uncharted and saw something completely different from the video games. Maybe I should just watch whatever I feel like?
You should always watch whatever you feel like! Play games as many times as you want and then watch whatever adaptations you like afterwards.

But if you're bored of an adaptation because you've seen it all before, then it's not really the adaptation doing anything wrong. You brought that in with you. Meanwhile if you like an adaptation because it did something new, then it's not its adapted elements that appealed to you.

I never said it did. It's not fucking judgement call. Who the fuck shat in your cornflakes? All I pointed out what that it didn't work for me. The acting is superb. I watched the entire thing despite not being enthused. It just didn't enthuse me. What's with everyone feeling like they need to make a goddamn introspective comment about other people's likes on here today?

It's been one of those days all week.

I'm as nerdy as they come, but this is a completely unhealthy attitude if it's not meant as tongue-in-cheek. I mean, the ENT finale is atrocious. The worst series finale in the franchise going back to 1969. It's objectively mediocre if not downright terrible on almost every creative level. In ten days we mark 20 years since that episode aired. But even as angry as that episode has sometimes made me, I forgave B&B long ago.

They made choices. Bad ones, if you ask me and probably the vast majority of other Trekkies, but done with the best intentions. Execution was very poor, but that happens in all lines of art and entertainment. If I can't forgive two producers I've never even met in the flesh much less personally know for mucking up a series finale then I have far worse problems than a crap final episode of a show.
"Valentines to the Fans" - Rick "Christine has bigger boobs than Terry" Berman.

I dont think there is a word, phrase, sentence or even paragraph in the any language that could describe how fucking bad ENT's finale was.
Even Dexter's two horrible finales cannot measure up to that atrocity.
Even before it aired, Bakula, Blalock, Keating and Montgomery actually came out mentioning they couldn't believe the script when they were reading it.
In fact the entire crew were shaking their head reading about it, not just the cast.
Fat Riker being Chef was just the icing on the shit cake.

Pretty much yep to all of that.

This episode was a narrative atrocity that the ENT cast and crew didn't remotely deserve to slog through.
Blalock is famous for saying "We had 14M viewers at the beginning of S1. We had only 4M at the beginning of S2. Somehow we lost 10M eyeballs in a year"
And to those remaining fans, which included us of course, we got Fat Riker cooking holodeck food and gooning to T'Pol. My seethe was off the charts back then.

Well, my days of not taking seriously someone who says Berman wasn't a writer are certainly coming to a middle.

If you can't get the existing fanbase to like it, they'll bad mouth your adaptation, and the rest won't matter because your project just tanked w/o fan support.
If you don't think fan support matters in modern adaptations and how'll it'll affect you financially, you only need to see modern adaptations and see the end results.
Then how do you explain Nu BSG's success? It did not have the support of the original BSG's fandom, yet went on to be wildly popular.
the middle director (Rian Johnson) literally through out all the notes and just did whatever he wanted.
If that were true, Disney would have fired him like they did Lord Miller on Solo.
You're going to pass the blame to UPN?
They are to blame.
What, because Garret Wang called out Rick Berman in TV guide?
Garret Wang was habitually late to set and even when he was on set would often disappear when needed to film a particular scene. This is public record. This combined with his refusal to partake in director's training is why he never directed any episodes. Also public record.
Many of these Actresses has stated on record that it was Berman himself that was the misogynist, not UPN.
UPN's misogynism is also public record and was present in all the shows they aired at the time.
And looked how ENT went in the first 2 seasons compared to when he gave up control and let somebody else take the reigns.
S3 & S4 of ENT was FAR better written & produced.
Berman was still in charge during Enterprise's third season to the same extent he was in the first two. The fourth was the only one he stepped back on, and even then, he still had veto authority which he exercised throughout that year.

Oh yeah, here's Terry Farrel's IMDB page:

Career went nowhere. Might as well work at Kmart.
She had a nice career. There seems to be a gap in the 2000s into the 2010s. But I'm pretty sure she didn't need to work at a defunct retail store.

All of this has happened before, and all of this will happen again...

Sorry I was just thinking about The Wormhole mentioning nuBSG, which is such a good example of a remake that actually works that whenever I think of it I struggle to remember any other examples of that happening :p
