Favorite ALL time episode REGARDLESS of the series?

The Way of the Warrior is for me the finest installment of the franchise. It is like a best of compilation of everything that makes Star Trek great. It has top tier drama, humour, heart, space battles and ground battles all rolled into one. The continuation of TNG threads in addition to the stories within DS9 make the whole universe feel interwoven and like everything matters.

The Way of the Warrior from Deep Space Nine. The addition of Worf and all his Klingon political drama finished the show's transformation from a series about a Bajoran space station to a series about the Star Trek universe. Also it's really good.
Amen. Also, the attack on the station by the Klingons remains, to this day, what I think is the single best action sequence ever done in any iteration of Trek.

My favorite is always TNG's "The Royale". :)
That's a fun one, and sometimes that's all I want my Trek to be. No existential Federation wars, no 'the entire universe is going to turn into the final big singularity because Kirk kissed someone in 6th grade and we have to go back and stop him'. Fun. I don't want a serious only Trek.

Brent was great at the end with the dice throwing, wasn't he?

I stand by my vote for The Cage. It could have been released as a decent low budget movie, which was, IIRC, mentioned in one of the books about TOS as a way to recover some of the money spent making it. It is the genesis for everything Trek.

Thanks Gene.

Agreed on all counts. "The Royale" was also before Berman was running the show completely, so Ron Jones was free to actually have some fun with the music, which really helps.

I agree that "The Cage" is of high enough quality to have been released theatrically. Robert Butler was an excellent director and brought a cinematic flair to his work. Additionally, I think both Jeffrey Hunter and John Hoyt do an amazing job as Pike and Boyce respectively. And I think the Talosians are some of the most effective aliens that TOS did.

Hmm... I'm torn between TNG"The Inner Light" and TOS"Assignment: Earth". I also rather like ENT"Carbon Creek". I think I'll stick with TOS. :)

Carbon Creek/Treachery, Faith and the Great River/The Magnificent Ferengi/The Quickening/The Visitor/Far Beyond the Stars/Our Man Bashir/Message in a Bottle/Relativity/Blink of an Eye/Critical Care/Workforce I+II/Pathfinder/City on the Edge of Forever/The Trouble with Tribbles/Spetre of the Gun/All our Yesterdays/Assignment: Earth

It was too difficult for me to pick just one - and no offense to Sir Patrick Stewart - there are some Star Trek Picard episodes I really like, but none of them beat those above mentioned episodes.

As to Discovery: I need some time to pick one episode - maybe after rewatching the show.
