What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

Season one crashed to a halt for me when the Riker's let their kid die over the AI ban. Those simply weren't the same people from TNG who never gave up.
Yeah the whole Borg in Star Trek Picard I really hated. TNG handled the Borg well, anything after that they got watered down and I didn't like that.

Season 1 was good until the finale. Then it pissed in the pool pretty badly with the AI space tentacles emerging from the dimensional rift.
Meh. The space tentacles didn't bother me either. What did you expect it look like, R2-D2 and C-3PO? Anything conventionally mechanical looking would have probably would have looked too contrived or overly Borgish.

The dislike of the copy/paste fleet is something that I can sympathize with, but it wasn't any kind of deal-breaker for me. Starship porn is largely irrelevant to me.

Had the Control tentacles not already been seen in a mediocre season of DSC I'd have been a lot less averse to seeing similar devices show up in PIC. The concept didn't work, though, in either series.

StarFleet wouldn't accept her, Janeway backed her, the rest of the upper brass denied her entrance due some form of prejudice against her.
So she decided to join the Fenris Rangers to help people in need.
Yes, my comment was glib in its brevity.

My point was still that her experiences do not mean she should be an executive officer managing people.

And never surrendered

Absolutely. They're ships and vehicles that carry them to and from on adventures. To me, it's like getting made all police cars look the same.

Others within StarFleet seem to disagree, along with others IRL in the Production Side.

So I'm pretty happy that they made her Captain after all this time.
It wasn't easy, it wasn't direct, it was quite a unique journey to get there, but I think it was worth it.

“Starfleet” is just the production team and her ascending to the captain’s chair of the flagship makes no more sense than when Abrams did it with Kirk.

Only difference was that Abrams probably had a mandate to make an origin movie that had to have Captain Kirk by the end of it.

If Stewart ever had to leave TNG for some reason I really think Riker would have been a great Captain with Data or Worf as First Officer.
Honestly this would have been great to me. Riker has an amazing personality and watching someone so.... "human" have Data as his First Officer or Worf, when they both have a thing for Deanna, would have added a lot of interesting stuff. Alas, TNG was not that kind of show

TNG is obvs one of the best, but it lacks much needed conflict among the senior staff and that's why Pulaski, however brief, was an interesting addition despite her failure as a Bones copy.

Nacelles in the ENT and SNW/TOS eras are clearly descended from the tiny nacelles on Zefram Cochrane's Phoenix, so the nacelles are largely Terracentric. The spikier, longer ones might have more of a design influence from other Federation member worlds but we don't know that in canon.

Saucers seem to be pretty much Earth's idea, starting with the NX-class but even the Intrepid-class warp vessels in service in Starfleet in that timeframe had partial saucers. Seems to me most Starfleet ships from the mid-22nd century to the Picard/Sisko/Janeway era take most of their design cues from humans.
Those are prequel influenced and NX was a blatant re-use of the Akiraprise design, though I'm reminded of the meme answering conspiracy theories WRT pyramids in Egypt, South America, etc are simply the best way to stack rocks that last over a long time.

The difference in the details, as it were and the TOS saucer only a superficial resemblance to the NX and the details are much much different. There was also the evolution of the details on the TOS nacelles from the pilot through the series (grills, slot, and bulbs on the aft end) and the dull spiked bussard versus the glowing rotating one, as well the size differences on the dishes, etc. Any of these details could have come from any number of Federation members.
