What are your controversial Star Trek opinions?

Seven made FAR better sense than Kelvinverse Kirk.
Neither one ever made a lick of sense.
Indeed. She had no formal training, was basically offered the possibility of Starfleet but decided not to and went rogue. Then she gets placed as an executive officer over several other officers.

At least in Kelvin Universe they just just lost a member world, several ships worth of cadets and trained personnel and Earth survived sn attack.

But, Seven needs to be captain. :vulcan:

She should have had a field commission by Janeway.
Hey, y'all, show some respect! That's the Tertiary Adjunct of Unimatrix 01 you're talking about! :borg:

P.S. - That and $1.05 will get you a cup of coffee at a 7-11. :p

The minute Voyager arrived back at sector 001,a section 31 snatch squad….would have grabbed Seven and either rogue Vulcan or Ullian agents would have drained her skull dry for anything they could get.

There's a part of me that wonders if Matalas didn't put that into Season 3 just to show that even in the Prime Timeline officers can be fast tracked to ridiculous degrees. "Hey, you made fun of this in the 2009 movie but see, our timeline does it, too!"

I am sure Terry Matalas is a fine person, I hope to never, ever see him anywhere near Trek again.

Season 3 was fun for me. But as I've said countless times: it's also dumb as a flaming bag of poop.
I agree, but I'll vehemently defend season 1 every time. 8 out of 10, with my only serious drawbacks being the creepy relationship between the Romulan siblings and randomly giving Rios connection to the Synths 4/5 of the way into the story. Everyone's issues with Picard's consciousness being transferred into a golem body? That never bothered me in the slightest.

Exactly this. Experience doesn't mean much if you can't follow a chain of command. Which Seven often didn't.
She’s a maverick who breaks the rules but gets results. ;)

To prove that point he should have given the ship to Jack.

Season 1 was good until the finale. Then it pissed in the pool pretty badly with the AI space tentacles emerging from the dimensional rift.

Yeah that season's ending with the tentacles, coupled with Riker's copy/paste fleet, shot off the rails pretty damn thoroughly.

Was it ever determined if that was a future-evolved S-31 "Control" from DSC? Really had that vibe.

No one should be complaining about Abrams Kirk making captain so quickly anymore. Seven made it to the captain’s chair in about a year.
She's also older, more mature, and was under the tutelage of Captain Kathryn Janeway for her entire time in the Delta Quadrant.

Then on the way back, she was denied entrance into StarFleet Academy due to prejudice against her "Borgified Nature".

Then when she helped people by joining "The Fenris Rangers", she ended up getting involved in important things many years down the line as shown in ST:PIC S1/2/3.

So given her "Vast Experience", I can see why they want her as Captain.

She wasn't some young 20-something who got hot-shotted up to Captaincy, it took the better part of 20+ IRL years since her return to the Alpha Quadrant + "Many Experiences", especially through very important moments that tested her "Actual Leadership Skills" that paid off.

Indeed. She had no formal training, was basically offered the possibility of Starfleet but decided not to and went rogue.
StarFleet wouldn't accept her, Janeway backed her, the rest of the upper brass denied her entrance due some form of prejudice against her.
So she decided to join the Fenris Rangers to help people in need.

Sometime after Voyager returned from the Delta Quadrant, Seven applied to join Starfleet only to have her application rejected. This was despite strong opposition from Admiral Janeway, who went so far as to threaten to resign her commission. Seven would give up on the idea, not wanting for Janeway to make good on her threat. (PIC: "Hide and Seek")
Seven's rejection stands in contrast to the acceptance of Icheb into Starfleet, another former drone rescued by Voyager. Dialogue indicates that Seven might not have been outright rejected by Starfleet, but rather did not further pursue to join out of pride and despite Janeway's efforts, after her initial application was met with scepticism.

Season one crashed to a halt for me when the Riker's let their kid die over the AI ban. Those simply weren't the same people from TNG who never gave up.
