Season 3 First Look

I was too enthralled with a lit candle ozing green smoke when that aired...don't remember it.
;)
Heh ... I recorded the Dr. Crusher love story on my VCR the evening it aired while I was at work, so I could watch it when I got home (I actually got all the TNG episodes on tape back then), but it was so far-fetched to me, that I ended up tuning out half way through the episode and fell asleep on the couch.
I eventually went back and watched the whole thing a couple of days later, but it isn't one that I would go out of my way to see again.

SNW at least gives Chapel a background why she's in love with Spock in TOS, and the LDS crossover gave a reason why he would later get colder. Has Chapel told Spock what Boimler said?
Heh ... Essentially YES she has, but not intentionally and not in context of what Boimes actually said.
Her song "I'm Ready" in the 10 Forward lounge, was overheard by Spock.

That's why he sings "I'm the Ex".

I hate the fact that Spock and Chapel's relationship fizzles and Chapel turns into who she did in the original series.

Thats why they should just make the show an alternate universe. I dont think anyone wants to see this chapel morph into TOS chapel in just a few short years.

It wasn't a projector, really. They stood at a console, set it for what they wanted and the whole room changed into the setting they wanted, much like the holodeck, save for the console being in the middle of the room.

Maybe im thinking of a comic book I might have read as a child..

Why? People change. Chapel reminds me of a good friend from college. Enjoyed partying, lots of dates, clubs and the like, all while studying nursing and biology. Then, she got married, got her degree, and settled down, no longer the party girl, but a responsible professional.

People change. It's ok for that to happen.

Contrary to how many people seem to see Chapel in TOS, in And the Children Shall Lead and other episodes, I saw her as quite a mature, respectable mother-like figure. I don't know about anyone else, but I could never imagine my own mother being young and cool, so I'm actually happy with her being a bit juvenile and silly in this for that reason.

It just depends on what they do next.

Remember when we all used to fall in love every 5 minutes and make stupid decisions? Maybe that was just me.

My mother got somewhat tipsy at my older sisters third wedding back in the late 90's.
As the evening reception progressed into the late night hours, she decided that her youngest son (me) needed to know all about the men she dated during the years she lived in NYC (in her 20's) while working as a Radio City Music Hall Rockette.
(mom was a professional dancer before she met my dad)

Needless to say, it was info that I could have spent the rest of my life not knowing or even wondering about.
(the only thing I remember about it all is that she actually dated the actor Michael Rennie for awhile)

Settling down by not being a creative nurse anymore and acting all uncomfortable and shy around spock like she didnt know him or had relations with him just a few years before. Being embarrassed when M'Benga said Spock heard her when he was unconscious. Saying well "nurses are supposrd to have an interest in theor patients". She acted like a woman with a crush that didnt want him to know she had a crush. There is absolutely no indication that they had a deep relationship just a few short years before.

Why does everything with you have to be so literal.
Use your imagination a bit.

Give it a shot, you might actually find Life to be just a bit more enjoyable.

Perhaps she doesn't really wish to open old wounds and is only trying to rekindle their friendship.
Spock is too set in his ways by the time of TOS, to let those old emotions back in and apparently doesn't wish to travel down that road again.
It would seem that he doesn't really open up to her again until after his encounter with V'GER.
But we can only speculate about that since we weren't given any meaningful interactions between them in the rest of the TOS movies.

Majel's Chapel shined whenever they gave her a chance. In this video, I can see Jess Bush's version buried deep down on the other side of the pain of losing Korby and the relationship with Spock ending.

ETA: And I would like to point out the monumental significance of the fact that in Return to Tomorrow, out of all of the Enterprise crew members that he could have chosen to hide his consciousness / Katra* with, he chose Chapel. That has always seemed like an act of absolute trust to me, and now there is context for it.

* I know that the term wasn't coined until ST3, but that is what we are talking about here.

And there are other reasons why she might act that way. She might be trying to have that distance to protect herself yet the crush remains.

Relationships ebb and flow and humans are not static things. She could still be embarrassed because it's something that should have passed by now.

There's lots of potential here for what might be if one is open to it.
