Game TNG Episode Pitch Game

"Pulling Rank": Riker leads an away team search party to locate a missing science team on Arthus II when an unexpected hurricane hits. Among his team is a lieutenant who was demoted six months ago and re-assigned to Enterprise-D after he misused his rank of commander to persecute an ensign he didn't like for no good reason. Riker, another one of his previous victims, never said anything because he respected the man as a person, if not an officer. The two hash out their differences throughout the mission. Meanwhile, Reg Barclay struggles with rank issues of his own when he unintentionally offends a crew member below him in rank.

“Pneumonic Pulse Patterns” - Data's sensory systems begin to notice that everything aboard Enterprise-D is synchronizing - biological patterns, thoughts, speech, etc. At first, it's dismissed as overreaction of pattern detection subroutines, but as the synchronization becomes more apparent and debilitating, it's found to be because an alien consciousness is modifying the ship and crew for upload into its dimension - slow motion prep for abduction. Oddly, Wesley is the only person who is immune to the effects of the modifications - he was undergoing treatment for a medical condition which could hold the key to reversing the modifications.

Next episode: "The Silk Road" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silk_Road

"The Silk Road" - After Starfleet discovers a second, albeit much shorter, stable wormhole, this time between Bajoran and Ferengi space, they send the Enterprise to host a diplomatic meeting between the Bajorans and the Ferengi, while investigating the alarming fact that a second stable wormhole with one end in Bajoran space has appeared in less than a year. The Ferengi attempt to lay claim to the entire Wormhole as well as the local subspace regions on both ends, referring to it as "The Golden Road", while the Bajorans and the Federation prefer usage of the term "The Silk Road" and attempt to persuade the Ferengi to open a trade route between the two whilst sharing the Wormhole between the two respective governments. Hijinks ensue. This would be a season 6 or 7 episode. Next Episode: "From Hell's Heart..."

*"From Hell's Heart"*

The Enterprise responds to a Federation distress beacon from a planet enshrouded in an unknown anomalous miasma. Sensors indicate numerous life forms collected in what appears to be a population center, but no other infor c an be determined. It's decided that an away team should be sent to the surface to investigate; however, every time they try to beam down, nothing happens. No matter what they do they can't seem to figure out how to transport down there, as all the while they continue to receive transmitted echoes of what seem the dying cries of many people below. When they try to send a probe, for a brief instant, as the probe enters the atmosphere the miasma appears to shape itself into the image of a wicked, demonic mouth. Finally, they work out how to send Data in a shuttlecraft through the miasma, only to discover the planet has no surface at all, and what they were reading as a population center was in fact a sort of flaming maelstrom composed of old shuttlecraft and ships and the bodies of everyone who had ever tried to beam down to the planet--including the enterprise away team. It turns out that the anomaly creates a kind of feedback in the transporter matter stream which creates duplicates of anyone attempting to transport down while leaving the original behind. As the shuttle begins to tumble into the maelstrom the enterprise beams data back aboard, leaving the audience wondering whether Data's original is still down there, swirling in the maelstrom with all the other bodies.

*"The War Without"*

"The War Without": A Maraste starship transmits a declaration of war on the Federation, then fires on the Enterprise-D.When their ship is disabled and told to prepare to be boarded, it self-destructs. Investigating, they are beset upon by another Maraste ship, who tell them the same thing. Before they too can blow up, Picard orders a beam-over of a representative, who hopefully, will be able to explain. The ship's first officer tells Picard that they were told they were at war with the Federation, with no clear reason given as to why, but their military does as they're told. It is discovered that the Maraste, in need of an economic and patriotic rebirth among citizenry (the military has plenty of both), declared war against a powerful enemy to instill an underdog mentality in the populace, to unite them - having an enemy on the outside might do that. Picard assured them they can unite around peace, too, you know. Meanwhile, in order to solve a long-standing rivalry between two children on the ship, Data suggests a game of chess.

Spring Cleaning

The Enterprise docks at a deep space starbase to host & house the entire base's crew compliment of nearly 1200 people, for a few days, while the station is evacuated & subjected to a baryon sweep of its own. As the ship becomes terribly crowded for the duration, it's surprisingly revealed that the base crew have all been possessed by the condemned prisoners from Ux-Mal, who had been enduring penal confinement on the moon of Mab-Bu VI, which the Enterprise had previously clashed with, when they'd abducted Troi, Data & O'Brien.

The prisoners were able to flea that planet on a freighter with just enough power to get them to the starbase, most of them in stasis, & since have been holed up there possessing its crew for some months, while they waited on a ship they could commandeer. With the aid of a newly built exocomp, which we learn during the teaser that Data has been constructing himself, from Dr. Farallon's schematics, plus some new security protections he'd installed in himself to prevent being abducted like he had been the 1st time, its up to him to put down the hostile takeover.

In their universe, Beverly is AWOL from Starfleet after being charged with passing Starfleet intelligence to enemies of the Federation. While grappling with what would make her do such a thing, Beverly struggles to save her counterpart's life. Meanwhile, Wesley wonders if he should turn his counterpart in.

Next episode: "Medallion"

Picard is elated to have the Enterprise assist in an archeological expedition on a recently discovered and unclaimed planet. In the ruins of an ancient civilization, Picard uncovers a medallion. When he picks it up, he receives a sort of "vision" of people trapped. Scans of the medallion show nothing harmful, but there are strange energy readings coming from it. In a calculated experiment, other members of the crew hold the medallion, and seem to get a similar vision but pieces of information along with it. It seems clear that the technology of the medallion is attempting to communicate, and is not harming the crew. Many crew members arrive on the planet to receive a piece of the vision, which seems to tell the story of the downfall of the civilization on the planet, but also a mysterious plea for help. After combining notes on visions from many crewmembers, they discover coordinates and a code of some sort. Upon investigation, the Enterprise crew discovers an array of cryogenic suspension chambers, holding survivors from the civilization they thought dead.

Next episode: "The Tyranny of the Minority"

"The Tyranny of the Minority": Enterprise-D makes a return visit to Sancra, a planet that the Federation has not had contact with for fifty years, hoping their scientists can solve a problems of Imenuspo II, a Federation colony world in the process of terraforming that's run into a scientific snag, a world very much like Sancra used to be before it was terraformed hundreds of years ago. When they arrive, they find a world in chaos, with the citizens obeying nonsense rules laid down by the Krumdar, the faceless unseen ruler of their world. When the away team enters the castle, they find that the Krumdar has died years ago and his small children have been running the planet, using the anonymity of the ruler to maintain rule. It was fun at first, and took the two youngest children's minds off their sorrow, but the oldest child, middle school aged, is growing weary of play, but doesn't know how to fix it without allowing her father's enemy to take over.

Next episode: "Pressure Cooker"

"Pressure Cooker"
Picard's brother Robert and his family come to the Enterprise for a visit. Everyone is polite, but Worf is annoyed. He had heard that Robert used to beat up Picard all the time. He does that thing with his jaw when he meets Robert refusing to shake his hand. So Robert challenges him to a fight on the Holodeck and kicks his ass. Worf is ashamed, but also impressed. He tries to drum up someone else to challenge Robert. He finds a junior grade science officer with a reputation for excellent hand to hand combat. Robert kicks that guy's ass, too. So Worf puts out a general call for challengers, even going so far as to suggest to data that he might pretend to be a human, just to give Robert some humble pie. Meanwhile, Robert's son René strikes up a friendship with Alexander, and the two of them spend a few days sneaking around the Enterprise, looking for a phaser. They finally find one just sitting in on a cart in Sick Bay after pretending to have tummy aches from too much cotton candy. They are about to use it to shoot Spot, but Data catches them in the act and Spot runs away. Data give them a stern lecture about the danger of guns, and shame, Dr. crusher into keeping it in a safer location in the future. Meanwhile the only person left to challenge Robert is his brother, Jean Luc Picard. The whole thing proceeds like a big event with dozens of attendees in the holodeck. JL fights well, but Robert pretends to falter, and then takes advantage of JL letting down his guard to royally kick his ass. Worf is disappointed, but he gives Robert an awesome knife out of respect for his prowess Robert tells Jean Luc, "I hope you understand now." leaving the audience to draw whatever lesson they can from this whole thing.

"Queen for a Day"

Queen for a day

The Borg collective contacts Starfleet, saying they want to pursue more constructive relations. More specifically, they want a cultural exchange program, they wish to learn about empathy, and they offer a Starfleet Officer to take over the role of Borg Queen for which they would prefer Deanna Troi, both because she's an empath and she already wears Borg Babe appropriate attire (much like the stuff 7 of 9 would wear later). When Deanna becomes Borg Queen, she soon finds out the Collective seems to be keeping things from her. She digs into it, and she reports back to Picard on a private channel - the Borg Collective wishes to ingratiate itself to the Federation, and when it has acquired a sufficient level of trust, it aims at hacking into the Federation's financial system, to take over when the Federation is in disarray.

At this point Picard jolts awake as he can believe many ridiculous things: the Borg opening peace talks, offer a cultural exchange, accept Deanna as Queen for her looks, having insidious plans instead of their usual straightforward approach, but not that the Federation would be using something so vile and base as money. The episode ends with a Picard Pontification on the importance to always maintain a critical attitude, even in your dreams.

Next episode : Head of the Pin
(from a mock question of a group of 16th century protestants deriding useless scholastic discussions: How many angels can dance on the head of a pin?)

"Head of the Pin" - A series of strange diseases befalls a fledgling colony on the previously uninhabited Ephalt III, initially mistaken for a single affliction. Beverly's analysis of the symptoms suggests that there are at least three separate conditions. Wesley, who has been studying combat techniques lately, recognizes that the pattern of infection seems familiar, and after discussing his "crazy" theory with someone (Data, or maybe Riker), they determine that the attacks resemble maneuvers, suggesting intelligence. The crew uncover a society of microscopic organisms that is responding to the "invasion" with warfare, misreading attempts to build structures and cultivate plants as acts of war. It may be possible to negotiate peace, if they can figure out how to communicate. (Deanna feels unexplained hostility on the planet, but writes it off as angst from the colonists over sickness.)

Next episode: "Current Events"

Current Events

As one of Data's duties in the role of Chief of Operations & 2nd officer, we're treated to his compiled record of the week's goings on, with such events as the progress of their current mission to install a weather modification system on a new colony world, the ongoing undertaking of standard annual health exams, being conducted by medical staff on all the crew, (some of whom are none too pleased about it) and the assignment of new quarters to newly promoted junior officers.

Along with these developments, we see some of Data's lesser known tasks, some being as minor as managing requests for holodeck usage, or collaborative like implementing training & orientation competencies, with Lt. Worf, & all the way up to major duties, such as conducting "all staff" briefings, for officers not in attendance for senior staff briefings, which are generally considered a terrible bore by those officers (lol) being a concern for Data, who wants to endeavor to improve. So, upon Data's request, Geordi sits in on one, & ends up falling asleep (granted, it's old news to him & he's been working extra hours on the weather system)

When Troi's diplomatic efforts with a neighboring planet run a foul & Riker is struggling with rising riverbeds on the colony, that are causing dangerous flooding, Picard uses the opportunity to cut short his physical exam to intervene & arrange temporary off world accommodations, for the colonists, until the weather scenario can be resolved.

Next episode: Tempus Fugit

"Tempus Fugit": After being rescued on an away mission and receiving emergency medical care from the Naeko, a species who doesn't experience time, Riker and Deanna lose their ability to differentiate between the past, present, and future, displaying traits of childhood, youth, and old age. Meanwhile, Wesley reunites with an old friend from one of his mom's past postings and realizes how far apart they've grown in the intervening years.
