There will be a major revelation about Agent Coulson in the upcoming Avengers movie. But he never fooled me though because I could tell right away that he was D.B. Cooper!

Loki says hi.

They did show her using it. It just didn't stand out very much because she was written as a brainwashed robot with no personality. Hopefully she'll be more memorable now that she's actually her own person.

That would help. But then again I am not sure what they can do if she has so little screen time. This IMO is why I still think this would have worked better as a maybe 8 episode tv series. I mean the movie looks like it's going to be fun and all but I think the tv format would have really maximized the potential of these characters.

#MarvelStudios' X-MEN plans are "still pretty fluid," says creative executive Nate Moore:"We want to start sprinkling in these things so that it doesn't feel like you're going to drink from a fire hose when that movie comes."(via

So, basically like how they did the Avengers. Works for me. That was the winning formula the first time around.
I don't disagree with the sentiment, but I will say that this time around it rather lacks a sense of coherence and direction. With the Phase 1 build-up it was a pretty simple linear introduction of major characters each getting a movie (or supporting role) to shine, or at least just show up in the first act and then not do anything else (*waves at Hawkeye*.)

This time around it doesn't feel like they're really building anything, just smattering in elements that just basically say "look, X-Men stuff! More of it eventually probably?! Something-something multiverse something-something! And hey, we have Deadpool now, sorta!" There's nothing really connecting the dots. What does Kamala being maybe a mutant have to do with a dead eternal corpse who's bones are presumably made of adamantium? What does either of those things have to do with Monica Rambeau ending up in an alternate timeline and oh, hey there Hank!?

I guess what it's really lacking thus far is the X-Men equivalent of Coulson (or Claire, since 'Defenders' basically followed the same playbook.) Not necessarily a specific character per see, but something.

Yeah, that's fair. I meant it more as a sentiment than a structural plan. I agree that right now it's only seeds without any sense of direction. Hopefully at some specific point (circa one of the Avengers films?), things will have more a structure and we'll get that Coulson/Claire character.

Here's hoping anyways.

I suspect they're just going to dump the X-Men fully formed in the classic 90's Animated line-up--from the same alternate universe Rambeau ended up in--right into the audience's lap all at once . . . and then maybe kill them all off in Secret Wars or Doomsday or something, only to have a post credit scene with the "real" MCU incarnation of Charles & Erik and/or Logan, teasing their solo movie. Not sure what I base that suspicion on exactly; I could be wildly off-base.

Yeah -- it would be a little weird to bring back Patrick Stewart, then Kelsey Grammer, then Hugh Jackman, only to recast everyone else.

That would work for me but it's been way to long, right now. Instead of focusing so much on B-Squad, at best, much of the time post Endgame, we should already be neck deep in X-Men characters at this point. How did they not see them as the next logical phase after Endgame is beyond me. Your basically loosing Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig in Stark and Rogers and instead of going with DiMaggio and Mantle with the X-Men they have been fucking around with Phil Rizzuto and Yogi Berra. Fine players to have on the team but not someone you can build a franchise around.

They literally couldn't make them the next phase after Endgame.

They didn't have the legal right to do any x-men work at all until until shortly before Endgame released. And movies take years to make, in addition to the massive unavoidable delays caused by the pandemics and the strikes.

I remember some people at the time saying that Marvel should have, somehow, inserted the X-Men into Endgame itself.

It almost felt as if the film had set aside a place for that just in case.

STRANGE: Is that everyone?

WONG: What, you wanted more?

Imagine if more portals had opened at that point and the X-Men had come out, capped off by Charles and finally Logan.

People would have lost their proverbial shit.

Naaahh...that was deliberate ribbing of the fans because they  knew someone would say exactly Strange's line.

I don't doubt it, but narratively speaking it would have come out of nowhere, and in real world terms it was far too late in the process to make that major of a change in the movie.

Honestly, I always thought that the "what you wanted more?" line referred to the Netflix heroes more than anything else, and they would have been a much more natural fit.

Also Agents of SHIELD. Many of us were clamoring for at least Coulson and Daisy.
