I find it amusing how the Taskmaster change in Black Widow caused such a backlash.

As if the Taskmaster is actually a POPULAR villain in the comics...

I get the impression he was semi-popular. Not one of the top ones like Dr Doom or Doc Ock but somewhere in the middle. I can see it. He does have a cool costume from the cartoon drawings I have seen. That was enough to elevate Venom.

Yeah, I've kind of gotten the impression he's one of those characters who's just been around. Someone who people may like, but his appearances aren't a big deal that fans get excited about.

‘AVENGERS: SECRET WARS’ will officially begin filming in Summer 2026.

From what I saw on Twitter, Sebastian Stan was spotted in England where the movie 'AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY' will be filmed soon.

Well, I know that in his first appearance in Avengers #196, he was able to knock Iron Man out of the fight and match Cap blow for blow and almost beat him before the rest of the Avengers arrived and he chose to make a getaway. Even then, he thought he could have taken them on and won; and this was a line up that included Beast, Wonder Man, Vision and Ms. Marvel. Not bad for a first appearance.

"He" who? Do you mean Taskmaster?

Taskmaster does have a cool power IMO. The ability to mimic the fight movies of the person he is fighting. That's kind of novel. Granted I don't think they really explored this idea with the new version of the character in "Black Widow."

When he first appeared in The Avengers #196 (June, 1980), The Taskmaster was instantly popular, bolstered by the artistic gifts and design work of George Perez.

To be honest, characters of this type were semi-common in comics, such as the Super-Adaptoid, with notable appearances in Tales of Suspense #84 (December, 1966), The Avengers #45 (October, 1967) and The Invincible Iron Man #49 (August, 1972), being an earlier take on the "trait absorbing" (or gaining ability through observation) villain:

DC had its own villain of this ilk with the Parasite, who made his debut in Action Comics #340 (August, 1966):

..and he would return time after time to bedevil Superman, as seen in Action Comics #361 (March, 1968):

Considering the way the original Taskmaster obtained the skills of his targets, one wonders how he will mimic Bucky's artificial arm's power.

They did show her using it. It just didn't stand out very much because she was written as a brainwashed robot with no personality. Hopefully she'll be more memorable now that she's actually her own person.

How was the Taskmaster able to take out Ms. Marvel? Mimicking her fight moves is one thing. Did he also have her level of power?

There will be a major revelation about Agent Coulson in the upcoming Avengers movie. But he never fooled me though because I could tell right away that he was D.B. Cooper!
