Walken on SNL tonight

Anyone else looking forward to SNL tonight? Walken has always been one of the show's best hosts and one of the few with a standing invitation to host. Tonight should be an improvement from previous SNL episodes, which have been terrible. Should get another Continental skit at least.

Oh that would seriously rule. I love that fraking continental.
"More cowbell" might be SNL's all time funniest skits.

It's always worth checking out when Walken is there. Also ALec Baldwin, and John Goodman are fun to watch host as well.

I wonder how Old Colonel Angus is doing these days.

Thought Walken was funny as always, particularly the opening monolague. Didn't think much of the skits in general and was disappointed they didn't do a Continental skit.

SNL continues to disappoint.

Their writing has seriously sucked for years and most of their cast can't even read the cue cards without mugging for the camera.

I was looking forward to the Walken show but dropped off to sleep mid-way through.

They really just need to clean house and get some real talent in there....

The only thing that bugs me is Walken who(even though he's getting old) can't stop looking at the cue cards.

Followed closely by Census Taker as number 2.

Just imagine Walken's voice while reading the transcript and it's almost as funny as seeing the darn thing.

Census Taker is awesome. I have that one on videotape, along with Cowbell.

Last night's ep was a bit disappointing.....though I did love the opening monologue.

I know SNL is in the tank for Hillary but I couldn't believe they wouldn't touch the "sniper" story. :wtf:

But they beautifully skewered that with the whole opening monologue about "what's so hard about reading off a card?" and having the "audience members" read poorly off their blue cards.

I thought it made his obvious reading that much funnier throughout the show.

I bet as a writer you would dearly love if more people in the audience would pick up on these kind of lovely subtleties.
Unfortunately, we don't.
Such nuance is lost... but please you wonderful writers of all things subtle and profound, don't give up on us.

They took a more obvious shot (IMO) at it in the "Walken Family Reunion" skit--none of the actors were looking at each other.

Go Gene Rayburn, Have You Ever Seen a Dragon??

EVERY freakin' high school director should be forced to watch that terrific sketch. It amazes me the number of school folk who STILL don't realize the stage version of GREASE is SO much grittier and dirtier than the sanitized movie version. ("Hey. Where's 'You're the One that I Want'? They forgot to send the music for that one.") And they STILL make illegal changes rather than select a different show to produce.

That sketch was exactly right on. Some of the changes I've seen in H.S. productions of GREASE are almost just as bad.
