Is it just me who doesn't like the WTOK and later TOS movie uniforms?

This thread is mainly for those who dont like the uniforms!
I believe these are the most favorite uniforms of the Trek community. I'm not a huge fan of them, still prefering the TOS uniforms. Is there anyone else who has the same views as me by any chance? Please don't try to explain when they are the best if you are someone who like them, that's not what this thread is about please 😊.

Excuse me, Astrostars2025, but this is an open forum, and you may have to deal with different opinions.
And welcome to the board.

You are not alone, I assure you. Over designed and too formal for everyday wear.

I never liked the "monster maroon" uniforms. They looked stiff, uncomfortable and more like dress or parade uniforms than general duty wear. At times I thought the cast looked like they were in a production of The Music Man.

I think they are fantastic looking costumes, but completely inappropriate for Star Trek. I don't know why you need a wool coat over a turtleneck when you work aboard a climate controlled starship.

But I'm also one of those weirdos who loves the uniforms from The Motion Picture, so what do I know?

I freaking LOVE the Monster Maroons. They're probably my favorite Starfleet uniforms of all time.

And no, I don't think they're too formal, either. They're only for the officers, after all, and those are relatively rare. The rank-and-file get more useful jumpsuits. So it's win-win, really.

I Like them
I also like the idea that I read somewhere on here that they would have been better as the dress uniforms.

I kind of think they should have gone with same pants and department colored undershirt (with maybe less turtleneck) as the duty uniform and that the jacket would be added for dress uniform. so in TUC they would have worn the jackets for the klingon dinner

I think the TWOK uniforms represented an extended period of time in which Starfleet was heavy into public relations and was very image-conscious. The uniforms were meant to stand out and harken back to the days of ancient Earth navies, particularly the Old British Navy, in which officers tended to wear more fancier uniforms than regular crew, IMO. It would take decades for Starfleet to grow out of this, but their longevity may also have been due to rising and falling tensions with the Klingon Empire at the time too that continued even after the Khitomer Accords were signed as well...

what we call wool, etc, could be a climate controlled piece of fabric that keeps them cool or hot regardless. I think i remember this being part of some early draft of tmp maybe?

i THINK i remember a fan film doing something similar with the style but i can't place the details. probably a pointless post lol.

I feel like they wouldn't keep ripping them open every time they get sweaty if that were the case.

Anything's better to me than the uniforms they have in TMP...
It was my understanding that those uniforms were terribly uncomfortable to wear. The older I get, the more I can forgive but if something isn't comfortable forget it entirely.
