Russell T. Davies Returns to Doctor Who as New Showrunner

Seems like they deliberately held off releasing the trailer until after the episode had been out for awhile. They've done that in the past.

I love the image of the old school animation climbing out of the cinema screen. I'm very curious about that episode.

IIRC, the fourth episode is supposed to be Doctor Lite focusing on Ruby with UNIT.

Or possibly entirely absent given the 'can't control the TARDIS' plot line.

Certainly based on the bits of location shooting that were seen for it
it's another Ruby-centric episode that takes place over a long period of time; though this time there won't be a reset button ending.

Are they still showing the episodes on BBC One? I was looking for Joy To The World on the listings yesterday to get an idea of when Disney+ was going to post it, and I didn't see it anywhere.

Yeah, it was on BBC1 at 5.10pm

I wish disney included these :|

Not much of a teaser, but the new companion demanding she be taken home is a breath of fresh air, even if she is from modern day Earth (I'd be surprised if she weren't). The Doctor is shown as more serious as well. Keeping fingers crossed.

I think the scenes with the new companion shouting at the Doctor to get her home are from the season premier. I would guess the escaping cartoon as well?
The rest I don't know.
Ruby at Unit HQ probably the finale?

The escaping toon reminds me more of Sapphire and Steel, oddly, mixed in with Roger Rabbit (only not quite as much shadow detail.). I'd otherwise wonder if Moffat wrote it, except the Xmas special is said to be his last one.

"where the games are deadly" more than suggests Toymaker, regardless of corporeal form, will return.

Doctor floating and "what the hell is this" also suggests more than just light empty fluff, hopefully.

As usual, there's no iconographical motif for his outfits. JNT may have been too parochial with an identification influence, but he did have a point. Ncuti's outfits have been as varied as they are generic.

Also, it's surprisingly short as far as teasers go. Only Chibnall's era revealed less.

It's just the teaser, so there's a decent chance we'll get a longer full trailer closer to start of the season.

They'll need something to show in 2026 since it's not likely there will be a full series of DW, regardless of what happens with its future.

With Ncuti's 3rd season not confirmed yet, and even if (when!) it is they obviously haven't started filming yet, then I wonder if the plan is to hold off on Land and Sea for as long as possible so there is some Who related content if we end up with a bit more of a wait between seasons 2 and 3?

I’d be more worried about putting it out and it ending up being the last we see of Who before another cancellation.

But the question isn't, "Does the BBC want it to continue?" They mightn't be spectacular but the Live+30 ratings were still perfectly good for a drama in 2024.

The question is, "Who is going to want to co-produce it with them?" While the streaming numbers remain a mystery, Disney were certainly never hailing it as being a success for them and did the bare minimum to publicise the Christmas Special.

BBC definitely wants to continue. Even if Disney withdraws, BBC can continue. Again, with low budgets, I think they can give BBC America license, which they plan to sell to AMC for the USA, and make a deal with Netflix for the international. By making a deal that will cover all the old TV series of the franchise. BBC has clearly stated that it will not make any TV series without an international broadcaster.
