Russell T. Davies Returns to Doctor Who as New Showrunner

I'm guessing they showed two on the same day last season because the first one (the diaper episode) was absolute rubbish and they wanted to have a somewhat better episode available immediately to mitigate audience loss. Will be interesting to see if they do that again.

According to Sam Dinley (Murray Gold's assistant) they've been recording the S2 soundtrack this week, which is usually the last part in the post-production process.

I wonder if Davis/The Beeb/Bad Wolf are trying to get the series out earlier, so there's enough time to shoot S3 for a 2026 broadcast (Disney willing), or if worst comes to worst, to start looking for a new co-producer?

Nope, that formula is pretty common for shows on streaming services to hook new subs.
Yeah, Star Wars: Skeleton Crew just did two episodes last Tuesday and they were both great. It's pretty much standard practice for streaming series to release two episodes the first week, and sometimes they'll do another two on the last week.

Controversial opinion. Space Babies > Empire of Death (which isn't saying much as they're the weakest episodes in the season)
I wouldn't agree with that personally but they're not so different that I can see how someone could rank them that way.

Disney made a daring move trying to offer someone at BBC a job offer

That's par for the course in business. I wouldn't classify that as either "daring" or "audacious." Nor is it necessarily a huge "fail" that it didn't work out.

The official Doctor Who Twitter account released this image of the front page of The Timey Wimey (which I need to be real):

Can't believe Prisoner Zero got off.

Probably stand for election now.

Good point. I wonder if it will be better. If Classic Who had season 24, Nu/modern has 14/1. Will the upcoming season be the equivalent to how 25 was compared to 24?

Looks like AV Club have posted their review of the Christmas Special too soon. Oops.

Talk about a leak, goes in handy for the diaper episode...

It was handy as a warning guide.
Sadly the soap opera-ish back story is not suitable for many of my family members, so we won’t be watching. Too soon, and too close to reality.

Just as an FYI for anyone in the US, starting from Christmas morning, through early Thursday morning, BBC America is doing a 10th Doctor Dr. Who marathon, starting with Rise of the Cybermen, and going all the way through to The Fires of Pompey. It looks like they are skipping a few episodes here and there, they're skipping The Idiot's Lantern, Fear Her, Love & Monsters, The Runaway Bride, The Shakespear Code, 42, Utopia through The Poison Sky, Midnight. Then on Thursday morning, they're jumping back and showing Midnight, Partners in Crime, The Fires of Pompei, and Gridlock. They also list Power of the Daleks on Wednesday between Daleks in Manhattan and The Lazarus Experiment, but it only has it down for an hour, so I'm not sure how that's going to work.
EDIT: I just checked TV Guide, and it doesn't list Power of the Daleks, so I'm thinking that might be a mistake on the BBCA schedule.

The TV broadcast of this year's Doctor Who at the Proms is on Christmas Eve in the UK, BBC2, 4:10 pm and, I presume, iPlayer too.
