Cobra Kai - The Karate Kid Saga Continues

I would assume so. CK fans probably aren’t into multiverse shenanigans like the rest of us geeks out there.

So apparently completely separate from Kobra Kai, but I'm guessing still in the same universe?

Still the same. They've had members of the Cobra Kai crew helping out with the movie to make sure nothing conflicted with what was happening in the series. This is is likely set not soon after the final season. But being a teaser trailer, it doesn't really give much of an impression.

I think i might have been the last hold out to see season 6, part 2 (my daughter needed to finish her semester). Do we still need spoilers, or can we talk freely now?

And my understading is that the movie takes place about 2-3 years after the final season.

And one of my speculations for the series end: Johnny is the full time sensei of the new Cobra Kai, while Danny is part owner, but retired from most stuff -- until Han brings him back in. I wonder, though, if Han coming to see Daniel will be an "end credits scene" in part 3 of this final season....as a "trailer" for the movie?

I haven't seen it yet as I've been holding off on seeing it until I can watch it with friends in January, so as for spoilers, I'd prefer not. I could have sworn we had a Spoiler version of the thread somewhere.

I think this is the only one. Will have to double check. To be fair tho, I've spoilered any spoilers that I've posted, so others wouldn't be spoiled.

Just checked and this is the only thread.

Will be abiding by the spoiler tag rule fwiw.

Thanks for checking! It's weird, like I've had some version of the Mandela effect. Most high-profile shows have two different thread versions. I'm surprised to hear Cobra Kai doesn't have a spoiler thread.

WTF was that? Apparently they saw how well season 6B went that they decided to
keep the body count going.

Watched the first 3 eps of the last 5. You can tell that they are wrapping up the series as we are getting closure on several characters. I still think the show has major pacing issues as we seem to oscillate between exciting episodes and then episodes that just drag. The first two eps of the last batch are slow imo. And I still think the series, as good as some seasons have been, should have ended like 2 seasons ago. It really feels like they are dragging the story longer than it needed to be. But hopefully, the finale will be satisfying.

Spoiler:
I am not sure how I feel about Robby getting injured out of the tournament and Sam withdrawing. I was hoping they would win. And having Daniel learn the lesson of Miyagi-Do that winning and losing don't matter and karate is about not needing to fight, while on brand I suppose, feels a bit like a cowardly way to end that arc. I thought we would see Miyagi-Do rise from behind and win although who knows, there might be a final twist in the last two episodes. The big surprise is Kreese apologizing to Johnny and making Johnny the sensei for Cobra Kai and it seems Miguel and Tory will fight for Cobrai Kai against Axel and Zara. It appears that we might get the redemption of Cobra Kai as Kreese does the right thing towards Johnny, Johnny will get his big win and Cobra Kai will defeat Silver once and for all. The show is called Cobra Kai. So maybe it is not that surprising. Maybe this was Cobra Kai's story all along?

Honestly, they wrapped things up perfectly and gave everyone their moments. There's nothing really shocking. The last 5 episodes are probably the strongest since the series started to wane.

My only disappointment is
no julie pierce

The finale was very good imo. It wrapped up the stories of all the main characters in a satisfying way. Everybody basically got their dream. There were some really poignant scenes too.

The series was basically Johnny's hero journey from loser to champion. I like that he wins and finally gets to become champion in the same arena were he lost all those years ago to Daniel. And he won by finding balance between Cobra Kai's style and Miyagi-Do's style. And I love that he gets to sensei Cobra Kai now for good. He finally gets his own dojo.

Kenny didn't have one line of dialog for season 6C. On one hand, they screwed the character over. On the other hand, easy paycheck for the actor?

Exactly. It was nicely handled. Liked how they built the characters and world built.

Loved how that was handled. How he learned how to balance things in his life and in karate. Same can be said with Daniel. They both learned that Cobra Kai and Miyagi Do can work together and end up making one another stronger.

It was something to see Kreese realize what he did wrong and to see him rectify the evil he helped bring back to life, in the form of Silver. The scene between him and Johnny was truly poignant and so was the scene with one of his students.

As for Silver, got one of my guesses right there, in thinking that he was trying to do as much as he could before dying. His own urge for revenge and evilness blinded him. He figured since he had nothing to lose, that he could take others down, with no consequences.

In the end, he got what he deserved. Same with Kreese.

That end fight was something else! :mallory:

I really like how his dream about Miyagi was handled. It was done with both respect and class.

I agree with a lot of what has been posted about 6C. In the end, I am very happy the producers remembered the show is called Cobra Kai and put the focus on Johnny, Miguel, and Tory. I would have loved to see Sam and Robby get the wins, but it fits better storywise how it played out. Up until we saw Danny Trejo Jr comes down the steps dead, I thought Kreese was up to something. I didn't expect it, but I really enjoyed how Kreese got some redemption. And Chozen get a happy ending too, figuratively and literally! My biggest complaint about season 6, and the series as a whole, was the pacing. This entire story could have been told in 4 or 5 seasons.

Despite some of the flaws, the series still gets an A from me. It was super fun when it was on point and they stuck the landing. I'm looking forward to a rewatch down the road.
