Your opinion on SNWs Gorn

Because it was explicitly stated in the dialog. There was no wiggle room.
Which means that the writers meant for you to believe that.

The phrase "Are we supposed to believe..." is usually employed to imply that a claim is not credible. And the claim made here was not, in fact, all that credible.

This is all fake. The writers of Arena wrote their story their way, and the writers of SNW are writing their story their way. And that’s all fine and good…except when they say that it all fits together seamlessly. Because that’s just silly, because it doesn’t.

Even if they do, they don't believe it.

I see the SNW Gorn like the I, Spy remake (the one with Eddie Murphy and Owen Wilson). The only people with whom it would have any name recognition will be pissed. And for everyone else you don't get anything from using the name.

I understand this, to a certain degree. It always comes around to the same question for me: if nothing in Prime matters, then why does it matter if it’s Prime?
It matters in varying degrees. James T. Kirk, Captain of the Enterprise matters . The Eugenics Wars happening in 1990 matters less. The set decoration in Kirk's quarters matters less than that. The combo to his safe, even less.

Continuity issues aside, I have no problem with the use of the Gorn. That being said, the CGI Gorn (both in SNW and ENT) just don't work for me - like Godzilla, it is better to have a person in a costume. All credit to LD for using the old school design.

The Gorns in SNW are a mix of CGI, puppets and a guy in a costume. The Gorn Spock fights in the season 2 final is a guy in a costume with a CGI tail.

Because Trek is stuck in its "Glory Days" stage.

The only meaning being attached is how it connects to the past. Nothing else matters, at least when I read comments constantly berating use of nostalgia yet not using it enough.
It is indeed. There's not much we can do about it, so we might as well try to enjoy it.

The one episode of LD S5 with the highest amount of interaction here, is the one with all the nostalgia, callbacks and fan favourites. Tells you everything, really.

I can imagine that we'll see "boss" Gorn in SNW S3 and some kind of negotiation to end the conflict, possible one where personel are sworn to silence and it may not sit well with Pike, depending on what happens with Batel of course.

The ones we've seen could be genetically engineered soldier ants designed to clear worlds for occupation. A caste system might exist. Lots of possibilities.

Has Lower Decks been so boring that we're back at this argument again? Over in Controversial Opinions they're doing "when's the Eugenics Wars" again as well. I think this has been discussed to death.

(My opinion is still that the SNW Gorn are criminals deliberately using an outdated method of reproduction because they're evil. That's why friendly Gorn can be seen at Federation bases in LD.)

Don't care for it. I loved the original Gorn concept, which was basically "dinosaurs evolved into a warrior race," since I was a little kid in the 60s and always wanted to see more of that. Instead I got an Aliens ripoff. If they had to ripoff any Fox property, they could have at least made them more akin to the Predator, which would be closer to what we go in TOS.

Time traveling Romulas account for changes like moving the Eugenics Wars from the 1990’s to several decades later in the 21st century. It could also move the date to Gorn first contact earlier in the timeline. Time traveling Romulans = Superboy hitting the walls of reality to change things in Dc Comics’ timeline.

Dammit. I think you've got me.

(If TPTB are willing to say "Yes, we're changing things from TOS" then I am happy to meet them half way.)

Hey! What about Wally West?
