They could have taken the salary of Yeoh and made another season of Lower Decks. This looks fucking awful, the kind of shit you would see in the 90s on late night, laugh at and then forget about forever.

Time to cancel P+ again.

Have you seen the new trailer?

Not even remotely.
Oh please. The 1701 Enterprise A transporter room set in STV wasn't even redressed from how it looked in TNG, along with a lot of the corridor and Emgonge Room Warp core.

Same for a number of standing sets in STVI, as well as the interior of the 1701-B corridor Guinan was in with Chekov in ST:GEN.

I think you are misunderstanding what I’m saying. I’m saying that when I envision what the 2330’s era of Star Trek looks like, I do not envision it looking like a cross between DSC season 1 and PIC. But because the people who are producing this movie are the same people who produced those shows, that’s what the movie is going to resemble. That’s quite different from using a redressed transporter set from a show for a film.

This movie's sole purpose is to showcase Michelle Yoah. I really wish it was it's own thing and not part of the Star Trek brand. We've had 2 trailers and I will still watch it (I guess) but my excitement for this is not there.

I'm looking forward to it as its own thing. I'm not expecting it to be "Inquisition" or "Inter Arma Enim Silent Leges". I'll either end up thinking it's good in its own way or it'll be a guilty pleasure. It's going to be one of those two. I won't be sure where I'll land until I see it. All I can tell is, I won't think it's dull.

If I end up thinking it's a guilty pleasure, then I won't be able to justify to myself getting into long drawn-out arguments about it. Likewise, depending on what happens in it, I'm only going to look at what happens in the TV Movie and in the context of the TV Movie alone. To do otherwise will invite a rabbit hole that'll never end. That's what every discussion about Section 31 has told me, since 1998.

Instead, I'll save the energy for arguments about Tuvix. ;)

Maybe a little "Badda-Bing Badda-Boom?" ;)

Whatever ship they are using does look like its Discovery era tech, but it doesn't look too much like a Starfleet ship anyway. If they stick to non-Fed stuff, they can get away with it.

Either they're saving familiar Starfleet ships, costumes and sets for the main event, or they just aren't going to bother. Either eventuality is OK by me, but one is more disappointing than the other.
