There's worse things they could try to emulate.I got a... girlie Guardians of the Galaxy on a budget vibe?

That's fair. TOS dealt with all sorts of major Galactic threats. Everything from the Deneva Parasitic creatures, the Doomsday Machine, to giant space Amoebas. Galactic threats are kinda in Trek's wheelhouse.Sounds like TOS.
Billions of lives can just mean a planet. Like Earth.
Depends on who you're asking. The people who have posted about it for the last two pages definitely have.Have you seen the new trailer?
So, like STV, STVI, and ST:GEN then...At this point I’ll be happy if they actually give a valid reason why the movie takes place in the 2330’s. Because right now it looks just like any other era of CBSTrek.

Oh please. The 1701 Enterprise A transporter room set in STV wasn't even redressed from how it looked in TNG, along with a lot of the corridor and Emgonge Room Warp core. Not even remotely.
They swapped out the console/s, replaced the corridor, and added a booth, including an alcove behind the main console. The 1701 Enterprise A transporter room set in STV wasn't even redressed from how it looked in TNG

Same for a number of standing sets in STVI, as well as the interior of the 1701-B corridor Guinan was in with Chekov in ST:GEN.
Maybe a little "Badda-Bing Badda-Boom?"I'm looking forward to it as its own thing. I'm not expecting it to be "Inquisition" or "Inter Arma Enim Silent Leges". I'll either end up thinking it's good in its own way or it'll be a guilty pleasure. It's going to be one of those two. I won't be sure where I'll land until I see it. All I can tell is, I won't think it's dull.
If it ends up being a guilty pleasure, then I can't justify my getting into long drawn-out arguments about it. Likewise, depending on what happens in it, I'm only going to look at what happens in the TV Movie and in the context of the TV Movie alone. To do otherwise will invite a rabbit hole that'll never end.
Whatever ship they are using does look like its Discovery era tech, but it doesn't look too much like a Starfleet ship anyway. If they stick to non-Fed stuff, they can get away with it.I think you are misunderstanding what I’m saying. I’m saying that when I envision what the 2330’s era of Star Trek looks like, I do not envision it looking like a cross between DSC season 1 and PIC. But because the people who are producing this movie are the same people who produced those shows, that’s what the movie is going to resemble. That’s quite different from using a redressed transporter set from a show for a film.
I was hoping we get at least a sense of what this new threat is. Too many quick cuts, not a lot of meat, story-wise.
