News Fugitive Doctor and current Master coming to Big Finish.

I have a scoop! Courtesy of someone who I don't want to get in trouble but does work in a company that has a Doctor Who license I have been told the official BBC restrictions for dealing with the Fugitive Doctor. (Which I assume would have to be Russell's restrictions.)

To wit: While she is definitely the Doctor, since the Master can't be trusted the truth of their past remains a mystery and is not to be touched on. Specifically no mentioning the Timeless Child or using Tecteun. Division can be used but shouldn't be the main focus of a story. And finally in a rule that has to have been written especially for Big Finish no having her meet other past Doctors.

Definitely the best solution as far as I'm concerned. Despite what some folks might have wanted there was no way they were ever going to un-Doctor her, so just avoid the stuff that people realllly disliked. (Just like how there's been hundreds of 8th Doctor stories at this point with the half-human subject being steadfastly ignored.)
I always liked Jo's Doctor, and I echo the feeling she'd be the perfect Doctor 2.5, but how did I miss this post from earlier?

Wild, if true!

Definitely not 2.5. Only because she's unaware of the sonic screwdriver, is too smart to need one (per both tell AND show), and wouldn't it be a fun paradox that her encounter with 13 would lead to 2 picking up the device and only later introducing it in "Fury from the Deep" to get companions and audiences alike to say "ooh" and "aah".

Of course, anyone can say "memory erased" and she forgot about it then turned into 3. Then again, the upcoming colorized release will show 2 regenerating into 3, unless all the sci-fi sites are jumping to conclusions and there should be an Olympic sport for that as I'd get 3 gold, 2 silver, and 14 platinum (I'd go back in time and invent that one)...

It's just as possible she's a splinter of the Second Doctor like the one Michael Troughton plays for the audio stories in the Beyond War Games series.

Well at least people seem to have stopped talking about 'pre-Hartnell' now. Given that the TARDIS only got stuck in that disguise in Totter's Lane.
Really not happy with this incarnation being a previous one though. I can deal with John Hurt because at least that regeneration got an acknowledgement later on as well, with the consequence being a new 12 regeneration cycle was required. 21st Doctor maybe after a major trauma.?
Happy to go with an Unbound version in our universe though, because it has already been done once and very well too, and meets all of the other restrictions placed on the character's milieu.

Unbound might be best. There's too many stories over the decades, which ultimately all conflict against one another for a solid single continuity as such?

There were probably people in the 1970s who loathed the "12 regeneration cycle" as it imposed an end date to the show itself, and originally the regeneration concept was "a part of the TARDIS" ("The Power of the Daleks"). Even more fun, the 70s were also responsible for changing the cause of regeneration from a technological aid to that of an internal biological function, getting expanded on to creative effect in the 80s as a plot point with "Mawdryn Undead" and "The Five Doctors", and complete with handy "We'll give you a new life cycle" to the Master as a "let's get out of this dumb decision that was imposed that will hurt the show one day" card.

As for the police box shape, the ship arrived in a time when police boxes were normal, stored the pattern, ship left, ship came back later with the systems already breaking down (e.g. the old joke about the error detection system being damaged), but finally breaks down completely, remaining stuck in that shape when Susan was surprised that it didn't change shape. If the Doctor stole the ship because it was needing repairs, the repairs aspect being told in the 70s (but the stealing of it was revealed in "The War Games", the story that was otherwise to end the show with a bookend due to the show being too complex to make with budget and failing script concerns, but it got renewed but back to the other fun point, now imagine Hartnell's incarnation sneaking around out of boredom to go visit all of those planets and eons of time*,**), the ship already had problems and the camouflage unit may have been on the repair list already since Susan also indicated the ship was in the visage of a chair, an arguably illogical if not outright stupid design because (a) where's the door, (b) how does one get into it, (c) does one sit on it at which point can any old sod get inside if the operator forgot to lock the cushion?

* based on an action in "The Crusades", it's surprisingly not implausible**
** now that I realized that while typing that

Actually, we never imagined the show would get to 12 lead actors back then, at an average of 4/5 years each. 48-60 years! Only The Archers on radio had that sort of longevity.
As for the rest, well, isn't wild conjecture amongst fans fun? Sitting around, doing the what-ifs.

I'll have another half of Knocker, please.

Has anyone listened to the Fugitive Doctor audio yet? It seems to have gotten great reviews as expected. I guess the veil of mystery hasn't been pulled back on the fugitive Doctor though and likely never will be given this is an audio episode and with Doctor Who producers wanting to keep status quo with such things.

Not yet, though I heard some snippets and she delivers a strong personality so I'm hyped. (What if her incarnation is better than what season 1 was?)

Also, here's a review but with some mild spoilers follow -- it still seems like there was a lot of consideration put into it and reader comments confirm her releases so far are very well-received.

Yeah is she ever going to return to TV or has that story ended now, and it's just audio because now that would mean 3 versions of the Doctor running around it makes no sense
