So...no explanation then.

The tech is less refined is about all I see. The phasers still phaser, warp still warps. Attitudes are different and that's more obvious to me.

The attitudes in TOS and SNW feel closer together. Things are rougher, more distant from Starfleet.

I would say TNG is the outlier to me.

Don’t be daft. You know exactly what I mean.

But I will. Then I'll come here and complain about it. Isn't that what it means to be a fan these days?
;)
It was the way during the days of pen, paper and fanzines.:p

I don't always like the mystery box format, to be honest. The Burn didn't pay off quite as well as I'd like, but the DMA worked out well. The Red Angel had its moments.

If one thinks there's no way to differentiate two shows set on a ship with different crews, they need to experience more stories out there.
There's literally infinite options to go with. And there doesn't even have to be a mystery box option!

There was very little to distinguish TOS, TNG, DS9, VOY and ENT from each other as far as ‘crew aboard ship flying through space and visiting aliens/planets of the week, having a problem with said ship, finding some spacial anomaly that causes ____, or time travel.’ The issue is with the writing, not the concept. If the writers can’t get out of that above box, then there’s no need to have Star Trek Legacy when the same stories can be told in Star Trek Strange New Worlds.

How do you know they' would definitely be telling the same stories?

I don’t. But as I mentioned, the formula hasn’t changed much for 40 years. What stories do you think Legacy could tell that SNW couldn’t?

Any story with a personal connection for one. Something dealing with the past of an ex Borg, for example, can't be told by using Spock. Or something dealing with humanitarian aid to the Romulans as they continue to rebuild their society. Or anything that a professional creative can come up with that isn't me.

Just replace ‘Borg’ with ‘genetically engineered soldier’ or whatnot, or ‘Romulans’ with any other alien race with society rebuilding issues, and there’s little difference in storytelling.

You're right.
All TV shows on every network should cease now since they can all be swapped superficially to be told on SNW.

Why did they even do Discovery, Picard, or Academy, when they're all just telling SNW stories with different sets and characters. What a waste of their time, the fools.

Agreed 100%.

We all know that TV producers are stupid and us here on the Internet are far, far, smarter in the production of the stories.

That's just science.

They're not going to get told in Strange New Worlds though, because they only put out 20 episodes every three years. If they announced that Strange New Worlds will be getting double the episodes, except half of them will be set in the 25th century and feature a different crew, then I'd be down for that.
