Conspiracy also did scare me pretty well, especially when the mother parasite thing emerged from the burnt husk of the dead guy.When Enterprise was cancelled in 2005.
Being serious now, I think the first "scary" episodes I saw as a kid was TNG's "The Best of Both Worlds" two-parter and "Conspiracy" with the brain critters.
That was “The Bounty”.
Or, at least his remains.
Was this a plot point I forgot, or was this a blink-and-you-miss-it easter egg like monster tribble jump scare?
Why would they save Kirk's body?
I don’t know the exact reason why, but some stuff might be so:
-He’s famous, and smart(well, that’s kind of obvious).
-He came out of the Nexus after quite some time and reappears in the late 24th century. Well, that alone might be interesting to S31.

Actually, I hadn't thought of that. Starfleet wanting to keep Kirk's body for study because to-and-from the Nexus kind of makes sense.
