Random Thoughts...or...What's on Your Mind?

bishop was 40 when he played him - mcdonough is 58

That doesn't sound bad. I'm picturing Straker as an older guy stuck in his ways somewhat, but from maybe before the time of UFOs being known.

If I'd be doing this I would have expanded more about the aliens and not just made them something to blow up every episode, maybe even one from their POV..

Also I would eventually reveal SHADO..

I'm a little confused by something that's been happening lately. Now let my start off by saying that I'm very much a supporter of Kamala Harris and the democrats, and I trust them. I keep seeing all the reports of all of these big companies declaring bankruptcy, but all the reports and stuff keeping saying the economy is doing really well, and all the numbers are way up. So if things are good, why all these companies in such trouble? Again, I'm not accusing them of lying about the economy, I'm just wondering how all of this works.

There are always companies going belly up. Sometimes it's incompetence, sometimes it's because they're no longer needed, sometimes they were never needed. Look how many thousands of dot com companies went under in the 2000s. Not Bush's fault. Video game companies spend hundreds of millions making a game that fails and then they lay off a ton of people. That's not Biden's fault.

Companies have been reducing staff for years; it's part of the shift to the online market, to artificial intelligence and digital commerce. Brick and mortar businesses are going under because that's the nature of business. The overall economy is strong; it is the nature of the marketplace that's changing.

How long ago did Zachary Levi go nuts?

It's a low bar, but he has a chance to be the king of Pure Flix now. Compared to Scott Baio, Dean Cain, Antonio Sabato Jr. and Kevin Sobro, Levi is Matthew McConaughey.

... the moonbase uniforms for the ladies were completely nuts, though (compared to those even mirror uhura was decently dressed at all times)
It was the mesh sub uniforms that made no sense to me...not that my teenage self minded that.

Speaking of Harris, how did she get to be the democrats' presidential candidate? There were lots of other candidates out there, but there was no primary. She was suddenly in. No one questioned this? Is this how it's going to work in the future? Honestly, in all the decades that I've been voting, this year we have the absolute worst election choices I've ever seen. Also, while I'm kvetching, isn't it time we have upper age limits for presidents, too? I think 75 should be the upper limit. 80 is too old. With 75, they can serve one 4 yr term and leave at the cusp of 80. That's enough.

OK, I understand now.

I'm no expert, but I do try to keep up with the news about politics both in my own country and the US. So my understanding is that since Harris was already Biden's vice president, she was the only person who was able to legally have Biden's campaign finances and everything transferred to her. Basically, she was able to just assume Biden's campaign when he stepped down, whereas anyone else would have had to start from scratch. Because of this, the party rallied around her quickly, and she was able to secure enough delegate votes to win the nomination.

Biden dropped out of the campaign only four months before the election, so it makes sense that they would want to get a new candidate installed as soon as possible. It doesn't seem realistic that they could go through the whole primary process at that stage of the game.

No one questioned this?

There were a lot of questions at the time.

Is this how it's going to work in the future?

Biden stepping aside that close to the election was kind of unprecedented, and I wouldn't think the unusual circumstances here would change the normal process going forward.

Honestly, in all the decades that I've been voting, this year we have the absolute worst election choices I've ever seen.

I don't get to vote, but from my outsider perspective, it seems like one of the easiest choices ever.

I agree with Kamala Harris on...nothing, yet I am still going to vote for her, for one very simple reason:

SHE'S NOT TRUMP.

Seriously. That is literally the only reason I'm voting for her. But what the hell, it's as good a reason as any.

Well, not voting for a crude, cruel, sexist, racist sociopath who admires fascists and dictators would seem to be the wisest move. :vulcan:

it's a tough one, undoubtedly people slow down as they age but such an approach would no doubt be considered ageist.

What I don't get is why you'd want to do it. When I'm their age, if I'm lucky enough to get there, I definitely want to be enjoying a more relaxed lifestyle, much sooner hopefully.

I saw this video and i thought to myself what is stopping the Americans from joining the Commonwealth of Nations. They fit the requirements.
