Hello,

I am new to this forum community and very excited to get involved ! I am looking forward to contributing and learning from the community.

Could someone guide me in the right direction for where to start? Are there any specific threads; resource ; areas of the forum that you would recommend for a newcomer?

Any advice on how to get the most out of this forum would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance for your help!

Start with whatever section focusses on your favourite flavour of Star Trek and go from there.

This section is also a good hangout for most of the regular posters.

Welcome!

Hi folks,
Been a Trek fan since the original series first aired here in the UK and have never looked back.
Not a fan of the newer series post Enterprise -which took me several tries to get into.
Have been a lo g time player of Star fleet battles and later the FASA Starship combat game after SFB got so rules heavy it was more fun to calculate your tax returns than play it.
Hope to get involved in some threads and perhaps start some of my own but it will take time as family and work eat up a lot of my free time.

Jim

Very VERY late to this thread and not sure if people still use it, but hi. You can call me Karkat. I've been into Trek since I was eleven years old and it's a pretty important thing to my family and myself. I particularly enjoy TNG, though I also like VOY and TOS, and have yet to watch any other series. I am new to this forum community and can't wait to become more a part of it as time goes on. I'm in high school and between that and working on my video game I expect not to have too much time to just mess around on a Star Trek forum but I will try to be on semi-frequently.

Greetings fellow Trek, Wars and though not related at all but sometimes good, Dr. Who fans. I'm Brent Sohlden, or study2400, aka luke888 aka study3600 aka study888. I'm an author and streamer, sometimes gamer and I volunteer at a food pantry once in a while and at a bookstore every week almost. I am a Believer on Jesus and hoped for Latter Day Saint (RLDS, not LDS) and especially like TNG and TOS. And I am a huge Star Wars fan. Enterprise and Strange New Worlds I like too, but not as much. I have just started a binge of most things Star Trek starting with The Man Trap that premiered yesterday, Star Trek Day, 1966. Yesterday, on Star Trek Day I got more privileges on these boards for making my 14'th post and being here 14 Days. I'm so glad that happened on such a significant Day. I look forward to all the fun time I'm going to spend here talking Star Trek with y'all. I'm glad to be here.

Oh, please someone give me a link to the Red Shirt Lounge. Thanks.

You could try this.

Hello everyone,
My name is a Ruffian, as seen here. I am currently in high school, and I was introduced to Star Trek through my dad introducing me to TNG. I became a fan at age 12-ish, and have a taste for TNG mostly, although I do enjoy TOS, Prodigy, Strange New Worlds, and some of the feature films. I doodle fan made(my versions) of starship concepts, and more Star Trek stuff. I will try to be on the Trek BBS daily.
Can’t wait to talk about Trek on the BBS. 🖖

Hello fellow Earthlings.

I have just discovered this seemingly awesome forum full of Star Trek and SciFi fans.

I'm looking forward to take part in discussions as well as being in the loop on all things Star Trek, SciFi, TV, movies and more, conveniently all in one place.
It's like a federation of SciFi interests ;)

Hello! I just signed up. So I am diving in to see and hear what is new in the Star Trek universe.

A little about myself; I grew up watching TOS on reruns and am a fan of TS:NG. And Enterprise.

Some movies I enjoy are down-to-earth Sci Fi, zombies, future nihilism. I like old new wave, post-punk and baroque music.

Videogames lean into old vector-graphics and survival horror.

A 1979 old car is being restored under my stewardship.

I am a college graduate and military veteran.

I am deliberately being obtuse due to the rules. Thank you and glad to be a member.

Thank

I was exposed to TOS because my dad was a big SciFi fan and read and watched as much as he could find. TOS was a regular occurrence on our "boob-tube” growing up. So by the time I successfully extricated myself from home and moved to college I was quite familiar with it. But it wasn’t any sort of passion just a well known friend so to speak. Well, I was in love with Spock from the beginning.

Enter my two best college buddies who I hung out with a lot (probably too much). They were both huge SciFi fans reading many novels and got me reading them too and we would talk about it all the time. They were big ST fans as well, and now I’m going to date myself, but we all went to see ST The Motion Picture when it came out. Well, it was a big deal because it was ST being brought to the big screen for the first time. Well, at least we had that.

Then, The Wrath of Khan came out. So now I’m in love with Saavik. We all became big fans of Merritt Buttrick (Square Pegs anyone?). I do think this movie and Saavik was what kicked off my real passion for Trek. We went to the “Con of Wrath” in Houston, TX. My first con (of soon to be many) and my first time seeing Shatner in person. He oozed charisma. We were part of a speckling of people in the huge astrodome for the first panel of Star Trek stars. It was fun anyway.

I spent quite a few years of my nephew’s teen years taking him to ST conventions at his request. I think that was the most fun I had with ST.

The fun of moving…I had put boxes of things I needed in the house right away and the rest went into a storage shed on the property. Just yesterday I had to do the dreaded pull boxes and items out of the shed looking for something. Along the way I came across a bunch of autographed pictures and other items from ST including my beloved TV Guide cover with Seven in the plum suit. Too funny.

Anyway, I miss my “ST buddies” as it’s too many years since then and they both passed away from different types of cancer. Since ST Picard and “kickass” Seven I was feeling wistful and somehow recently found my way here to feed the need to converse and talk about ST.

Hello! I'm a relatively new fan (only since two years ago; Star Trek was never very popular in my country). My ship had left me in land because I had to attend some exams and I caught the TOS movies on TV by sheer luck. I guess I ended up doing a different type of sailing...
I've been hooked to TOS ever since. After reading the comics I'm now busy with the novels (still haven't got into any other series; there's simply too much just with TOS).
Ah! At first I was a K/S fan, until some day I ditched it when I understood that McCoy deserved all the love. Sorry K/S fandom, I guess I'm a traitor in that regard...

Hey everyone, I'm not really new here, I guess I've trolled alot, and I set up this account in 2009, but I guess I will finally post for the first time since 2009. wow. Well, I look forward to chatting about trek!

Hi, all. Since the early 70s and my not-well-coordinated body was swaying in front of the TV, I was hooked on ST:TOS in syndication. Warp to Earth Year 1987 and I'm a Senior in high school and ST:TNG debuts. Watched it till it ended, then caught THAT in reruns.
The movies - except for ST IV - were DA BOMB. JJ Abrams and the "Kelvin Universe" reboot? On point. ST:Picard and ST: Discovery? Excellent.
Listen, my ST family - Paramount Pictures and Bad Robot know what they're doing when it comes to entertainment.

Love 💕 me some Star Trek.
Travis
