Questions: BOBWpart 1

Flying Spaghetti Monster

Vice Admiral
Admiral
1) How did OBrien already seem to know the Borg had kidnapped Picard when Riker called down to him.

2) a shield prevents Worf from getting near Locutus. So what happened to that shield in Part 2?

My on-the-spot answers:

1) Good internal monitoring system?

2) The shield was probably to protect Locutus before his final implants were in. After that, the Borg may have assumed that he could take care of himself.

These are far from the only plot holes. See the Nitpickers' Guides and many BBS threads for other examples.

Also in Part 2, the Borg have an electromagnetic field to prevent main transporters from working to get in. where was this thing in part 1?

Ok that's so fucking easy to explain I don't even know why I have to. :wtf:

In case you are NOT being sarcastic and really don't "get it": The Borg didn't consider people beaming over to the ship a threat until an away team beamed over and forced the cube out of warp. This required them to expend time and effort on repairs. Ergo THEY ADAPTED to the situation and put up the transporter blocking field to prevent that sort of thing from happening again.

Agreed. Why are we even talking about the obvious 18 years latter?

We're talking about it because a fan had a question he needed answered. If he was serious there's nothing wrong with that. I don't see the need for the snide comments.

Thanks Greenmystik! I was just curious... i found it hard to believe that if they are trying to protect Locutus, why wasn't there a shield near him in part 2

I would go back to what Smiley said:

yeah maybe. but usually ST dialogue explains these things. often tehy explain things too much. I just remember Worf getting knocked back the first time and when they go in part 2, oh there he is, get him! no problem!

If I were to engage in baseless speculation, I'd say Locutus himself lowered his personal shields in a moment of desperate rebellion...

1. Well, the ship had just been atacked by an alien vessel. They weren't doing a lote of site-to-site transports within the Vessel at that point. Not to mention that any transporter activity is probably flagged on the transporter sensors.

2. I agree with the above statement, Locutus wasn't fully armored yet and probably not to his full macho power yet either. The Borg probably thought he could easily take down Worf.
