My personal "head canon" for Spock being changed was that he was telepathically affected by over eight billion "early" Vulcans being out there, unknowingly projecting their barbarism across the telepathic airwaves. Along the lines of how Spock was affected when 400 Vulcans died.

Look, I’m sorry, but this is *exhausting*. It’s hijinks, meant to play on the audience’s knowledge of Vulcan culture (which, it is important to note, does not exist).

Trek, despite our high minded notions as fans was never nuanced high level sociology, even at its best when examining our own culture. Real, actual sociology and cultural anthropology would be boring as hell in a show like trek and we’d be furious to have 1 or more of 10 episodes spent on it.

It’s hijinks. We’re supposed to smile or laugh at it. Which I did, because the cast was great in it.

Just a small, nerdy detail, but the red gem detailing on their Vulcan clothing reminds me of the Vulcan outfits from TMP Even the way they catch the light

I found that clip terrible to be honest. I’m kind of done with this show’s zany comedy stylings; my biggest complaint about the second season. If I wanted The Orville I’d watch it.

Obviously, the intent has always been that the Vulcan way is learned and not genetic. So you kinda have to suspend disbelief twofold and play along to enjoy this.

Which I'm fine to do, but I suspect this will be SNW's "Threshold" (which I LIKE!)

My two cents is that they're acting like exaggerated Vulcans because of the placebo effect.

Obviously they've been physically altered but they're not immune to suggestion, and much like stage hypnotists convincing people to cluck like chickens, they don't really  need to but do it anyway.

Maybe the whole episode is Spock trying to out-logic their illogical pseudo-logic?

This is 100% from S03E05. I'm not sure why they insist on doing wacky Vulcan hijinks episode fives, but it looks like they'll be doing it again. This clip was a bit rough though. The problem with the Vulcan hijinks episodes is that they're destined to always just be okay.

Just because she has a legitimate criticism against the show? She's brought it up in Seasons 1 and 2 as well.

She still likes the show overall, it's just their treatment of Spock or the Vulcans in general that gets on her nerves.
