I guess this is a perception thing. The custom one on Ebay screams...the same to me.
We had a big flea market in my area, and I got quite the toy haul:
Imperial Godzilla (6 inch, got his bigger brother already)
Imperial King Kong
Bootleg Godzilla
King Sphinx from the original MMPR line
Viking Batman from Kenner's Legends of Batman line (missing his weapons, but he's got the cape)
Now, these two I picked up because they obviously look cool. I guessed them to be from a Chap Mei or similar manufacturer of cheap action figure lines, and online research proved me right, they are from Chap Mei's 2007 "Stone Age Dinosaurs" line.
And finally, this little fella:
It's obviously a kaiju sofubi, though there are no copyright markings anywhere on it. Don't know from what year, or which manufacturer, though it's very similar to Bandai's 6 inch Movie Monsters line (though it's about an inch shorter than those). The cartoony look of his face might mean he's from the Ultra or Sentai franchise, but that's only a guess. Might even be a small-run independent kaiju without media counterpart.
Anyway, looks pretty cool, fits with my collection of kaiju toys, and finding something like this at the flea market is rare enough so I just had to take this one with me.
