I have relatives in DFW metroplex, Temple and Carthage. They are happy for a break from the heat caused by Beryl, probably a short lived reprieve. They will probably pay for it on the back end with increased humidity and a return of the heat. 113F(120 with the heat index) in central California for the high again today.
It's so weird for me to see people talking like this when it's only in the '90s. This time of year in Az we go out and do stuff in the morning when it's still cool and only in the '90s.
This time of year is only supposed to be in the mid to upper 90s for the normal high. It is an hour before sunset. I've been going outside and moving sprinklers on garden hoses every hour to water my yard, it takes about 10 minutes to move them all, but it is still 110 degrees with 27 percent relative humidity. I'll be finished with the yard at sunset, but the acreage that I'm flood irrigating won't be finished until 2AM, and I will be busy making valve adjustments until I shut the water off. It will cool to the upper 90s at that time. At least it will make it harder for the mosquitoes to find you because your body temperature is the same as the surrounding air and objects.
Yeah, that does like it would be pretty uncomfortable.
Yikes, I didn't realize you guys were that much hotter than normal around there.
Thanks for saying what I came in here to say! I live right on the Canadian side of I-5. 28C-34C hits differently when you've got lots of humidity, and air conditioners only became common recently. We never needed A/C around here before, other than 2-3 weeks a year. Winters were wet but pleasant, and summers were warm and pleasant. We really used to put the whole 'temperate' in the 'temperate coastal rainforest' thing. Not so much these days!!
Pretty unnerving for us here, but also everyone who lives downstream through the province and into the western US!
