IIRC, that start in the 50s.
Even the comics eventually pulled Olsen away from those silly plots as the DC universe around him was changing to the degree where it would be as out of place as dropping Gumby into the comic.
Yeah. Probably a lot of casuals don't realize that Kirby's Fourth World, with all it spawned and all its popularity and influence over the decades, first appeared in Superman's Pal Jimmy Olsen.
I'm not actually a huge fan of Silver Age comics, but I like a lot of their legacy. The amazing transformations of Jimmy Olsen are a very fun part of Superman lore, and there's no reason a little of that silliness can't be translated to the present day. Fraction and Lieber's maxiseries showed that crazy, comedic Jimmy can be a smart and inventive success -- and they have the Eisner Awards to prove it. Comics don't need to be muy serioso all the time.

Only if they take the effort to adapt Jack's art style. The recent DCAU trend of everything looking like generic pseudo anime is of no interest to me.

A couple of notes:
a) even he wonders how the hell Lex Luthor knew that Kryptonite was fatal to Superman. I wonder why this isn't a topic that comes up more often among nitpicking maniacs
b) I never thought about it, but there isn't a single consensual kiss in the entire film!!!

Miss Tessmacher was pretending to be unconscious, and wanted to be a time consuming distraction, so that Otis could steal millions and millions of dollars worth of WMDs. Perhaps a fair transaction? How come Luthor is stealing nuclear weapons in this movie, but by movie 4 he's selling nuclear weapons?
On one hand, that could be considered consent from Eve, but those men definitely did not want consent, and consent probably ruined all their "fun" worse than losing their jobs.

Someone pointed out elsewhere that Man of Steel was released 11 years ago today. It will never be my favorite version of Superman, but I've gained a level of comfort with and even some appreciation of it over the years. It's certainly a very well-made movie, and some of its ideas and narrative choices are good ones. (Some are also, IMO, dreadfully wrong-headed, but there's no value in debating those yet again.) The film's final line is also a thing of beauty. And Amy Adams makes for an absolutely spectacular Lois Lane, the best live-action take on the character up to that point.
