Recommend an Episode

I request an episode where the villain was right, or at least had a valid point.
"The Wounded". Picard even says as much at the end. Also, "The Pegasus". Not having cloaking tech has been like a giant "Lose" button for the Federation.

Honorable mention to "Paradise". Yes, Alixus's decision to allow her people to die was unconscionable, but after seeing some effects of society's perpetual interconnectedness, maybe she had a point, too.

How's about an episode that's just plain escapist fun?

I recommend Badda Bing Badda Bong

I request the best Worf episode

DS9: Progress. The one with Brian Keith as the crusty old Bajoran settler whom Kira has to forcibly relocate. A standout episode in that former revolutionary Kira is forced to realize that, for better or for worse, she's part of the establishment now.

How about best episode set in the 20th century?

A lot of good ones, but that request of best means I can only choose Far Beyond the Stars. Lauded for good reason.

How about a great ep that explores Vulcan culture?

I have to go old-school on that one and say "Amok Time." Though I'd also put in a good word for The Search for Spock. Both had memorable presentations of Vulcan customs.

Since I don't think they've been mentioned yet: let's have a great episode featuring the Romulans!

Though it's not the obvious choice, I'll go with "Inter Arma Enim Silent Leges". Or if you like Nu Trek, SNW's "A Quality of Mercy" is a worthy season finale.

Same vein, how about a good Cardassian episode?

I would definitely go to DS9 for good Cardassian episodes... this might seem like an odd choice, but "CIVIL DEFENSE". You not only get to see how smart Cardassians are with making plans within plans within plans, but you get Dukat and Garak in the same episode! With hints on why they hate each other.

This is probably more a dare than a request... find me a bad Jeffrey Combs episode.

You can go with ENT's Acquisition, VOY's Tsunkatse, or DS9's Meridian. ;)

Combs himself isn't bad in any of them, but I find them all to be very mediocre at best.

Now how about an ep that tells me some previously unrevealed but very important fact about a character?

TNG The Defector. Romulan military at their devious best

"ACQUISITION" is without question the worst episode of those three.

"Now how about an ep that tells me some previously unrevealed but very important fact about a character?"

"DOCTOR BASHIR, I PRESUME?" easily fits that bill, since it was a huge reveal and it does explain a few small details of previous episodes. (The fact he survived the Lethean attack in "DISTANT VOICES" when almost nobody does or how he only grazed Garak's neck so precisely when he shot him in "OUR MAN BASHIR", as some examples.)

How about an episode that was truly a no win scenario for any of the captains?

For Archer, either "Similitude" or "Damage" would work well. And for Janeway, there's obviously "Tuvix".

How about an episode where a major character has to face death. And I mean really face it, look the Grim Reaper right in the eye, not some threat of the week that's quickly technobabbled away.

TNG "The Wounded," a pretty good episode in its own right, introduces the Cardassians -- you may recall they pop up in Trek a few more times. ;) Bonus points for featuring Marc Alaimo, the future Gul Dukat, as Gul Macet.

Let's have a good episode with a downbeat ending.

TNG's Lower Decks. I'm so glad they never undid the ending.
That was a good one. And not only did they not undo it, they even reinforced it in the last season of the Lower Decks series (appropriately enough).
I'd like an episode that's legit funny, please.
Your mileage may vary, of course, but I thought SNW "Charades" was pretty funny. If you're a bit more old-school, how about TOS "A Piece of the Action"?

How about a good "message" episode?

Well, do you like Picard kicking :censored: in court? "The Drumhead".
Avery Brooks running around with a shotgun? The "Past Tense" two-parter.
Or if you want something more fun, Star Trek IV is a message episode on steroids.

How about an episode that features one of the great Trek bromances?

Yes, yes, and yes!!!

Off the top of my head:

TOS (Kirk and Spock): "Amok Time"
TNG (LaForge and Data): "Elementary, Dear Data"
DS9 (Garak and Bashir): "Our Man Bashir"
VOY (Paris and Kim): "The Chute"
ENT (Tucker and Reed, if they qualify): "Shuttlepod One"

How about something similar, but with two female friends?

I can't believe a Bashir/O'Brien ep didn't get a look in. ;)

DS9's Rejoined is a good Dax episode where Jadzia isn't sidelined in some way (as so many Dax eps seem to do) and handles the "Trek parable" quite well. It also features a "single ep love interest" without being lame. (Not to say all the rest are, but it's a real coin flip a lot of the time.)

I'd like an ep that highlights one of the main cast that usually gets less focus than the others.

I will offer several possibilities...
TNG: Remember Me (Beverly)
DS9: Nor the Battle to the Strong (Jake)
VOY: Timeless (Harry)
ENT: Vanishing Point (Hoshi)

How about an episode that takes a well known character in an unexpected direction?
