The NX-01 is boarded, one of the hippies is killed, but the others turn the other cheek and diffuse the situation by engaging the belligerents in interested conversation while mourning their fallen mate, and distract them long enough for security to get in position and retake the crew common area. The NX-01 makes it to a Vulcan outpost, and the hippies disembark to apply to settle in the area after somehow getting back their space van.

"Bonaventure" - The NX-01 goes to the Delta Triangle region to investigate the loss of the Bonaventure. Three Klingon vessels are spotted and they are suspected of destroying the ship, but when one of the Klingon ships vanishes from sensors, Archer isn't so sure. The only tactical solution involves entering the region in a dangerous gambit.

The perpetrator seems to appear out of nowhere and then blend back into the shadows.
Reed suspects Suliban involvement and his primary suspect is a Suliban scientist named Selin. This is encouraged by a Tandaran named Grayle. Weyoun is unconvinced, though Reed thinks it's because the geneticist is attracted to Selin. Through Wey's efforts Reed realizes that Grayle is guilty party but before he can be apprehended, he escapes in a cloaked ship that has been trailing the Enterprise, with some of Weyoun's research. It's heading, towards an area of space controlled by a species called "Cardassians". Curious, Reed asks what Weyoun was researching. Weyoun responds "cloning".

He has been circling the same area of space for a long time, and keeps his hope alive thinking she'll be just in the next system. Next episode " Ship under the Sea"

"Ship under the Sea"

NX-01 receives a distress call and responds. Upon arrival in the system, the ship has trouble pinpointing the location of the ship in distress. After some time, it is discovered that the ship had crashed into an oceanic world, with nearly all of its surface covered in water. The crew discusses how to assist the vessel, the idea of using the transporter is attempted but it was unable to deal with the environment safely. They thought of using shuttlepods, but it was determined they would be inadequate. Lt. Reed eventually suggested an unorthodox idea, harkening back to his family lineage in the Royal Navy, to take NX-01 directly into the water.

Trip suggested it should be possible, with some modifications. To be entirely safe, non-essential personnel disembarked from the ship onto a local habitable moon, leaving only a skeleton crew on board. NX-01 plunged into the depths. It did not go off entirely without a hitch, some systems did not act properly and as they went deeper, several sections of hull began to buckle under pressure. However in the end, the ship was able to make it to the downed vessel, docked and rescued the alien crew in a successful first contact.

Next episode "Medusa"

"Medusa" - An NX-01 away team visits a mineral cave, the site of a massive dilithium deposit that Earth wants to make a deal for. T'Pol becomes suspicious when she finds evidence that the cave has been salted, yet nobody can deny that dilithium is coming from somewhere. There are also concerns about missing persons in that sector, even crews. The dilithium is actually made from individuals who are transformed into crystals by a powerful device. T'Pol is kidnapped by the female project manager when she learns the truth, to silence her, but they don't know that she shared her concerns with the crew because she said she didn't, to protect them. They rescue T'Pol and the crew agree that they need to destroy this device so their people will never be tempted to exploit it themselves.

"The Detail"

NX-01 initiates first contact with a new race, who send a member of their royal family to the ship. Along with the Princess are her detail of guards, who are zealously loyal to her highness. While onboard the ship, the Princess falls violently ill and despite the best efforts of Dr. Phlox, she perishes. Archer is concerned that the first contact will fall apart but he is reassured by the royal family that the Princess had significant health issues and they did not suspect any foul play on their part.

However, by the tradition of the world the Princesses security detail, having "failed" to protect her must commit ritual suicide. The crew learns of this and prevents it from happening. Once they interrupt the ceremony, the diplomatic talks do begin to breakdown, with the alien world seeing the interruption as a grave insult. Archer will not allow the security detail to kill themselves, and is hesitant to release them back to the planet, where he knows they will immediately perish.

After some some soul searching and a discussion with Phlox and T'Pol, Archer ultimately decides to release the detail back to the planet and no longer interfere with their customs. He questions if he made the right decision, fearing that there was no right answer.

Next episode: "Hodgkin's Law" (referencing TOS' "Hodgkins Law of parallel planetary development".)

"Hodgkin's Law" - After picking up Shran from an important Andorian conference, Enterprise rendezvous with Columbia to an M-class planet that is an exact parallel to 2150s Earth. On this Earth, aliens that resemble Admiral Forrest, Henry Archer and A.G. Robinson are very much alive, as well as their being aliens that look exactly like Ruby from the 602 Club and the respective parents of Reed and Sato. But this planet has yet to make first contact with any alien species, and never got around to their own NX Project. This means that Phlox , T’Pol, and Shran are the first non-human looking aliens they have ever met , and both Enterprise and Columbia are seen as strange alien vessels.

Meanwhile, a massive meteor too big for both Enterpriser and Columbia to tow away is on a course collision with the planet, and Trip has come up with a way to divert it from its course. However, Reed would rather blow it up, and both Phlox and T’Pol think that the meteor should take its natural course. The fate of the planet ends up in the hands of Archer and Hernandez, who quickly realize they cannot see eye to eye on the best way to deal with the crisis due to how their respective command styles have evolved.

“Chainsaws” - NX-01 comes to the aid of Nestor "Chainsaw" Champion, diplomat-at-large, a big-mouthed ambassador who bluntly tells it like it is yet somehow has managed to bluff, cajole, or charm his way out of trouble until now. The man has been imprisoned on Karig after his criticisms of their military's actions. Archer finds himself in the role of advocate for the abrasive man, even as he disagrees with him. Meanwhile, Trip considers being assertive to push the ship to the top of the list for badly needed requisitions.

"For Valor" - When a MACO takes their own life in their quarters, Archer orders Reed to investigate the circumstances surrounding the MACO’s death. When Reed joins Corporals J. Mackenzie, Amanda Cole, and Chang in the mess hall, they recount their previous assignments that involve their fallen comrade. They recount situations on Mars, bases on Europa and Pluto, and on colonies such as Alpha III and Alpha Eridani II. As the story progresses told, Reed realizes that the MACO was suffering from an undiagnosed case of PTSD. When Reed asks Phlox about it, he find out that the MACO was not allowed access to psychiatric care from Phlox from higher ups at Starfleet Security. Upon turning to Harris for an explanation, Reed is left at a dead end. To bring himself some comfort, Reed finds a personal way to honor the fallen MACO.

Next episode - “Wisp-ers from Remus”

“Wisp-ers from Remus” - NX-01 answers a distress call by a small craft piloted by a Reman in body and a Wisp in spirit. They wish to warn of an imminent Romulan drone attack on an orbiting colony. In hot pursuit, other Wisps want to see the attack proceed, not out of a desire for blood, but out of a prime directive-like desire to stay out of it. NX-01 is caught between non-interference and action. Meanwhile, the Reman whose body the Wisp has overtaken is all for the attack.

Next episode: "Chapter Book"

We interrupt this Pitch Game for a very special episode. This is spinning out of a discussion elsewhere on the BBS about the muddled times given for the Eugenics Wars. One of which is the middle of the 22nd Century (DS9 "Doctor Bashir, I Presume")

"2176"

In the teaser we see Archer, visibly older and in civilian clothes giving a speech celebrating the fifteenth anniversary of the founding of the Federation. Surrounding him are his old crew. A shot rings out and Archer falls. Transporters flare and heavily armed soldiers appear. Humans, Klingon Augments, Denobulans and Illyians among them. Phlox goes to Archer's side but casts a glare at the Denobulans in the group.
Two of the human Augments step forward, a woman Kim Nguyen Wong and man Ragnar Thorwald. They announce that Augments throughout the galaxy have step up to take control of various governments, including the Klingon Empire. A Klingon Augment, Krell joins the two humans. He informs the gathered Federation officials that the Klingon Emperor has been overthrown and the royal family executed. The High Council has been disbanded and replace by the Governance Committee consisting of politically powerful Augments.
Hoshi, who has been monitoring comms, tells everyone this is true. Sub-space is a chatter about Augment coups on various worlds.
The Enterprise crew and others are herded into holding facilities in the Federation Council building. There they discuss what has happened. The first question is where the human Augments came from. They aren't from Arik Soong's batch as they are too old. Reed reveals that Section 31 had it's own batch of Augment embryos, thinking they could raise them and control them to use as elite soldiers. Archer is upset by this, as Councilor for Earth he should have known. Reed makes an ill-timed joke about it being above Archer's paygrade. Attention turns to Phlox who's people seem to be heavily involved. He shares that Denobulans have has mixed feeling about the Federation and its anti-Eugenics policies. Policies spearheaded by Earth. More radical elements on Denobula have been calling for distancing the planet from the UFP. Others have reached out to other "augment" communities in places like Qo'noS and the Illyrian Colonies. Phlox is astounded that the radicals have taken it this far.
Two Augments come in and grab Archer. Reed and Mayweather try to intervene but are easily rebuffed. Archer is hauled before Krell, Wong and Thorwald. The human Augments want Archer to be the spokesman for their demands. These include the location of all Augment embryos on and off world, control of Earth's government and the dissolution of the Federation. Archer of course refuses. Krell chastises the humans for being weak He walks over to Archer and strikes him. Wong then grabs Krell and tosses him across the room. Thorwald seems to take Krell's side and steps in. They argue and Krell storms out. Archer senses weakness in the human Augments and tries to turn them on each other.
Back in the cell Reed, Mayweather, Phlox and Hoshi plot an escape. They quickly go quiet when their cell door opens. It's Archer being returned to the cell. He informs the other's about the dissention in the ranks.
Outside the Council chamber, Federation Security forces have gathered. including T'Pol who now works for them. They attempt to form a strategy to free the hostages, Most methods would seem to result in death for the hostages. T'Pol advises to "trust Archer".
The crew decides to divide an conquer. Given a certain amount of freedom they work on individuals in the group. Phlox concentrates on the Denobulan contingent. Archer's target is Wong who isn't quite as extreme as Thorwald, Reed focuses on Thorwald. Mayweather attention is on Krell. Hoshi uses her time to gather equipment needed to contact Federation forces on the outside.
With the various factions now squabbling among themselves, Archer and his people make it possible for Federation forces to take the building and free the hostages. Krell and Wong are killed in the assault. Thorwald is captured and swears vengeance on Archer. In the aftermath The Federation reaffirms it's stance on genetic engineering, with Archer and the Denobulans objecting. The coups are put down on most worlds, though Augments remain in power in the Klingon Empire and the pro-genetic engineering faction on Denobula is in the majority, Denobula severs ties with the Federation.

We now return to your regularly scheduled Pitch Game, already in progress.
