No, just lots and lots of desert. And lots of desert.

Great movie. Great two movies. A friend and I wanted to watch both back-to-back. Part I on DVD, then go to the theater. Then I did the math and realized that would be over five hours of viewing in the same day. So, we broke it up instead over two weekends.
I'll try that with Sahara and Dune Part 1 :)

If you’re going to compare her to Shatner, Stewart, Brooks, Mulgrew, Bakula and Mount, how would you rank them?
Thats a fool's errand.

I've noticed sometimes it's just based on mood. Stewart is the best actor in the list, that's all I'll say.

"grating"

I wonder what that's all about. Subconscious racism? Conscious? I don't know. But I've seen this pattern before. Let me guess, you left the word: "woke" out to not trigger anyone?
Everyone can express their opinion of the episode; if you want to critique it or disagree with it, that's fine, but this is trolling. Don't just throw out accusations when people disagree.

I don't understand that comment. It's an observation.

Surely there has been no shortage of evidence of those things in here. I've already seen it. I know you're aware of that and this sounds suspicious.

Hadn't planned on bringing it up again anyway.

How bout I just say that I respectfully disagree? I find SMG's performance full of nuance and depth. YMMV
It remains a fact Discovery is judged differently. Go peek on the troll thread right now you'll see what I mean. Lots of bias.

It's not a matter of disagreeing, it's calling a spade a spade.

Regardless, you're right Burnham is nuanced and that's SMG.

Completely agreed.

Just because someone doesn't like how Burnham's character is portrayed doesn't mean that there's some kind of bias, subconscious or otherwise.

For example, Avery Brooks was excellent as Ben Sisko. But I can understand why some people don't like his acting style because there are times when it can be overly theatrical. For me, it works perfectly with the character. To others, that might not be their cup of tea. Doesn't automatically mean there's any racism.

In the case of Sonequa Martin-Green, her character is okay, but things are written to make Burnham way too right, even when she has been proven wrong. It's like she was given a cheat code for game. I also think her acting style is too emotional for a leadership role. I don't know if I can call her 'nuanced' because so much of what we see on screen is anything but nuanced. So I can certainly understand why that acting style doesn't work for them.

Nice start for the final season. Fred's planet reminds me a lot of Tattooine.

And I know for a fact that I have a certain level of latent racial bigotry in myself. I always endeavor to acknowledge it, master it, and avoid acting on it. And when I fail at that, and end up acting like an asshole without realizing it, I welcome being called out on it.
