So .. how big is that? Nickel sized?
After trying all week I finally managed to get a photo of a spider living in my garden tonight that I'm pretty sure is a female Steatoda grossa. First time I've seen this type of False Widow and it's huge. They're interesting because they don't seem bothered when they detect humans unlike more common spiders that are acutely aware of a human presence and retreat. Maybe it's because they know they're tough as old boots. I've put the image in spoiler tags because some people don't like seeing pictures of spiders.
Edit: On a closer look it may be a female Steatoda nobilis because of the cream band around it's abdomen.
