Spoilers Variety about the future of Star Trek

Just observing here on TrekBBS, less people seem interested in Legacy than they did for a Pike show.

I see a lot of interest for it on other platforms. Remember that TBBS users are not the median fan by any stretch. Legacy is likely more popular with "Normie" fans than some people here will realize or want to accept. There is more hostility to it here for sure. Hell, there's even lost era backlash here already "iT's NoT NeW duuuurrrrrr"

I'm convinced the TNG story isn't over yet, whether that's a movie or TV (Legacy) show, we'll see.

I just view the Legacy thing as a spin off. Seven's the Captain Sydney LaForge is the helm officer, etc....after the pilot and early going it doesn't really matter where these characters came from; they're on their own ship/show doing their own thing. Sure, Picard and Geordi and whoever they want can show up fro time to time but it would be it's own show set in the early 25th century and that is what I would really like to see.

For me, the bottom line is that I’m into Star Trek mainly for its characters and its worldbuilding. Most of my favorite characters are from the so-called TNG era: Seven; Kira; Odo (RIP Rene); The Doctor; Garak; Worf; the list goes on. And IMO, this is also the era with the strongest worldbuilding and the greatest potential for further development.

I’m cool with folks thinking it’s cringe or whatever for someone like me to treat this sort of stuff as a warm blanket, as memberberries, whatever - I’m down for all this other Star Trek as well, and I’ll live if we never get more from the early 25th century. It is what it is. I don’t talk much about what I personally want from the franchise, but here we are.

Almost entirely unrelatedly, I think this sort of thing does get off the ground eventually, and that’s the part that I typically focus on when chatting here. I think it’s a relatively savvy business choice, so all things being equal (and given the state of Paramount, it’s hard to say all things are equal, but we go with what we know) it will happen. Might not be for five years. Maybe even longer. Maybe too much time goes by, and a lot of the people both in front of and behind the camera that petition-oriented fans anticipated seeing will not be a part of the project. Maybe that nukes the hype for a lot of potential viewers. Maybe it doesn’t.

But at this rate, my best guess is that nothing is being seriously considered in TV series format until after a possible TV movie is produced. If that TV movie is centered on Jean-Luc Picard again, I won’t be thrilled. Not my preferred avenue. But again. Characters. Worldbuilding. Preferences. All that jazz. I’ll be there.

Wow, what a insulting way to describe people who don't like this idea.

If Garrett is in it, that basically confirms it’s set in either the early 24th century, or very late 23rd
2320-2340 in my guess (Assuming the ENT-C incident occurred circa 2347) so yeah, early to near mid 24th depending on how young they say the character is in the Section 31 film.

Cool.
Ill believe a trek movie happens when its actually filming.. otherwise its Duke Nukem level vapor ware

Academy in 32? Meh.. but ill go in with a open mind.. though Tillys episode with the kids sucked hard vacuum. And itll be 2026 before we see it.

S31. Garret? Im interested now. Now.. will they show the Enterprsie C? The Probert version?
Dint need any new designers.. just excellsiors and mirandas and constilations running around.

Hope they DONT use the snw monster maroons.. those pleather sleaves sucked. Dont miss with perfection.

Anyways. .. wheres prodigy s2 on netflix?

Tbf, Legacy is being pitched as a follow up on Klingons, and various Berman-era characters showing up alongside their nepo baby children.

SNW wasn’t pitched that way at all. It was treated as the best parts of DIS S2 (i.e. Pike) getting their own series.

Eh, it’s close enough. I’m more interested in the ship designs of that era, and how bad they’re going to fuck that up. :D
Hahahaha don't say it or it will come true!
On a serious note I really like this version of the connie refit! Its a mashup of the original refit and JJ prise and imo would work perfectly for a SNW 'future timeline' Enterprise!

The artist left out T'Pol, Troi and Seven of Nine.

So you didn’t actually mean “fans as a whole” - you meant on one subsection of the fanbase on this board? That isn’t what you said originally though.
