He did advance in rank, as he was a full Lieutenant on Lower Decks as opposed to Lieutenant JG, his rank throughout Voyager, with the obvious exception of his time as an Ensign.

So while I think the show fixes one big issue I have with Picard, namely using Wesley Crusher for a pointless cameo and not including him in the final season at all, not even to meet his mother and his brother... it also means that the entire crew got Borg-droned during that Fleet Day finale, which I wish there was some way they could somehow say never happened. lol
Ah I thought the attack was much sooner than the actual start of the series, but looking up the dates I guess they'd be in their late 20s or early 30s by the time S3 happens.

I originally wanted to watch the first couple episodes only and then wait for the English version, but the level of French is accessible enough that I'm not straining at all (I'm a Canadian with 10+ years of French in school, half my family lives in France or Quebec, and I married a gal who speaks French as her first language). Anyway, I'm hooked and will keep watching.

I’m loving how everything ties together. In Prodigy season one, the kids used a Borg cube to research the Living Construct and are also hunted by Romulans. Then in Picard, Romulans capture a Borg cube and subsequently hatch a plan to use AI to destroy Starfleet from within. Then we come full circle in Prodigy season 2 with the Utopia Planitia attack. Aaron really did his homework in ensuring canon continuity.
And I fully, wholeheartedly believe that the Cerritos crew was completely unaffected by the Borg virus in Picard S3 because Boimler and Mariner stumbled backwards into some absurd unrelated nonsense that inadvertently protected them. I’m cool believing the same of the Prodigies until proven otherwise!
Just wanted to add that the quips are on point this season. In no particular order or context:

I thought Trek was above quips. 
I’m sure I will have a big list once I hear it in a language I can fully understand, but so far, I particularly enjoyed Tank Top Janeway pulling off a crazy piloting trick and saying she learned it from Tom Paris!

And, yes, I am joking. It's just hilarious to me how much other Treks (Kelvin, Discovery, Picard) are derided for too much quips, but Prodigy gets the pass.
