For it to work they should have at least made the lead a old women like in the comics because that would be a fresh take on a comic book movie.

If Madame Web II is set in modern day, a few years from now, Cassie would be in her mid 50s... Which is still not old enough?

Oh.

What if Movie II was to set in 2012 during the Battle of New York and Infinity Quest/War, and we get to walk over all of that again?

They could have set it the Andrew Garfield universe and bring in back in small role.

Maybe we (I never bothered.) should actually watch Morbius?

No Way Home, Spider-Man I was made in the Sony Verse before they made their deal with Marvel to hand over Tom. So Vulture is a Sony Character, even though "words" used in the clip above hint that Adrian fell through a space time rip.

Technically Argylle is not an original movie, it was based on a novel. And fun fact, there's a conspiracy theory going around that the novel was actually secretly written by Taylor Swift using a pen name.
The novel was only published weeks before the movie came out, so that's a distinction without a difference, really. It's basically an original film.

Oh, I didn't know that, I just saw an article about the whole Taylor Swift thing and that the movie was based on the book.

I haven't seen the movie, but I've read so many bad reviews that I'm wondering why Sony didn't make a WB-style move and shelved it for tax reasons. It feels like it's not just a bad movie, but incredibly bad on so many levels that it's astonishing. Who knows if we will ever get a behind-the-scenes look at what really happened, because simply blaming the studio executives seems reductive to me. It's a film so bad and incoherent that it seems to make Berry's Cat-Woman shine in comparison. And that certainly the latter hadn't cost that much.

What the heck it happened? I struggle to remember a decent-budget super-hero movie in the last 20 years that received so many scathing reviews. Even the worst ones were at least "ok".

Sony loses the rights to Spider-Man if they do not make a new Spider-Man (related) movie every 5 years.

I'm not sure if the actual Spider-Man movies count towards this 5 year benchmark, since Marvel is doing all the heavy lifting, and Sony is collecting most of the money. Marvel can't be that dumb?

In 1993, European boutique production company Constantin films owned the movie rights to the Fantastic Four, so they made that awful movie, you saw at that convention that one time, to keep the rights. Marvel got a preview of the film and said "Go fuck yourself! You are not letting this see the light of day! It's awful. We are going to do you two very generous favours, we will grant you an extension so you don't lose the rights, and we are going to team you up with FOX, who theoretically knows how to make a good Fantastic Four movie".

Unfortunately history proved otherwise. :(

I still get tingles thinking about Jessica in that skin tight costume, but everything else let the side down.

Dr Doom could have been Australian!

(Yes, I spelled that right.)

Marvel makes *all* the money from Spider-Man merchandising and Spider-Man merchandising is a juggernaut. Spider-Man merchandising brings in more than Avengers, Batman and X-Men combined*. It's win-win for both parties.

* At least that was the case 10 years ago. I doubt it's changed that much.

Remember a year ago, Sony Told Tom no more Marvel Movies, and it all fell apart?

Lots of yelling.

Yesterday some one said that Sony got 90 percent of the boxoffice.

Google took me to an article at Comic book Resources which suggested the split is closer to 50/50.

So kind of like 2001: A Space Odyssey?

That would depend on who the author is. 2001 was a case where an established author and established movie creator, who were both artists creating their own visions, collaborated on a project at the same time based on a written but not published novel. When there were differences between the details of the film and the novel the director and the film maker discussed but did not dispute those differences--

I have no idea what the hell Argyle is? Never heard of it.

Not even knowing the movie Argyle even exists also might be why people aren't making fun of it. One is high profile and the other is already forgotten. Also what about Argyle is even goofy enough to get humor from it other than maybe Henry Cavill's haircut? Not a easy movie to mock.

A frumpy cat-lady (Bryce Dallas Howard) has a magic Typewriter. Years after the fact, after a popular series of Jack Ryan like novels about a super spy (Henry Cavil) fighting an evil cabal of super bastards (Bryan Cranston) who control the world, she is approached by the characters from her book, desperate to find out how the next novel ends, before the events of that book destroy both worlds, real and imaginary.

Forgot about the cat. It seems it has a really bad CGI cat in the movie. What is it with the overuse of funny cats these days in movies? I say it's time for dogs to make a comeback.

Jack Ryan style? So he mostly sits behind a desk having meeting?

Not only did I know about Argyle, I was excited about it because of the premise, director Matthew Vaughn, and the cast. I was less enamored by the CGI cat, I have to say. I am disappointed that it hasn't done well but I'm looking forward to watching it when I get the chance.

The funny thing about Argyle is that the original PR material revealed the twist - which they then pulled and tried to promote the twist...

I think you were referring to the Holland movies, but I'd imagine the Spider-Verse movies count.
