You don't see why a cult leader would, uh, cultivate a credulous bunch of people who remain willing to donate time and money to a preposterous operation despite mountains of evidence that it's all a scam?

I think our hypothetical cult leader might regard Axanar as a fortuitous pre-screening operation for new followers.

What I'm curious about is how these two groups connected in the first place. Is one of the Axanard staff also a member of said-cult and thought it would be "kewl" to join forces? Can AP handle working with someone with an arguably bigger ego and charismatic presence in his orbit than him? Will he see what's left of his staff start gravitating towards this new group, followed by experiencing some "Hang on a sec..." epiphany/panic moment? I'd love to be a fly on the wall with some of those conversations, if for nothing else than the pure entertainment value of it all.

Years ago... BA (Before Axanar) we would sometimes toss around the concept of a film about the making of a fan film (generic). Wasn't a bad idea but could take away from the main mission of Project Potemkin. Star Trek, Star Trek. Star Trek!
But yeah, for as little as Axanar has done, they sure seem to make a lot of noise about it. Like I have a granddaughter, her first college film was more than Axanar, so what's all the hubbub about anyway?

Apparently some news today on the Axanar stream. I only caught the first couple minutes but they announced a couple of new unnamed Axanar fan films by someone else as well as accidentally mentioning a collaboration between the Orville guy and Peters for an Orville fan film.

If that’s what TruFans want, then I’m not sure they understand Star Trek. I think Trek is different things to different people and if what you’re really in it for the starships, that’s fine. But people complain about Discovery because in their eyes, it’s all about war. I think Disco is a lot more than that, but if that’s your viewpoint, I just don’t get it.

I don’t think Prelude is as amazing as most do but at least Christian Gossett gave it some actual drama. This is just awful.
