Thoughts about a TOS revival with AI technology

Where do you draw the line, though? Do we keep the terribly outdated sexism? It wouldn't feel authentic without it, surely.
Candidly the sexism in TOS is rather overrated particularly given the era when the show was produced. As such it’s a pretty easy thing to get past with any continuation.

What about the sexism in today’s productions where men are belittled and talked down to? Presently you have one form of sexism swapped for another.

It's pretty baked in, from meek and timid Nurse Chapel to Kirk holding frightened Janice on the bridge and so on.

There is a belief that correcting bias requires reversing the bias. It is an entirely sensible belief given that our most deeply held concepts of justice provide for “balancing the scale” - An eye for an eye, etc. History shows however, that when you import individual remedies to societal settings, the shear mass of people involved can create counter results. Thus fire used to fight fire just results in more fire - and political backlash. Reverse discrimination just perpetuates discrimination, however noble the motives.

They're not.

Individual male characters are sometimes belittled, for reasons. Pay attention and learn the difference.

Because you can't cite a single significant instance in Trek to support what you're claiming.

Characters who habitually generalize about groups of people based on gender, ethnicity or other su h factors are portrayed as blinkered at best.

If you're going to insist otherwise, demonstrate otherwise with specific examples. "If you don't see what I'm talking about" doesn't make the cut. Neither does the old "I don't have to prove anything to you" dodge.

Well?

Then watch something else. It isn't that hard, most of the CBS stuff doesn't do it for me, so I turn the channel.
I watch little to no television anymore so it’s not in my face. When you’re old enough you’ve seen plenty of television to the point where what you see in the present is “been there, seen that, and it has been done better.”

Yup. Was recently watching an interview with a psychologist on the matter. It was interesting to hear her perspective on how if things were reversed it would not be tolerated.
It isn’t at all new. For decades fathers in popular media have been belittled and denigrated and it’s all taken as a joke. Do it to mothers and you’ll be roasted alive.

At work I have a friend/coworker who puts men down albeit in a somewhat joking manner. We get along great, but every once in awhile you wonder if she really is joking.

Assertive traits in women are lauded, but the same traits in men are often enough labeled as “toxic masculinity.” I would call toxic masculinity someone abusing or exploiting others for their own ends, like a certain former President trying to get re-elected. Someone who is merely confident and assertive is not toxic in anyone.
