The only two TREK films better than 12 are 6 and 3. 3's the pinnacle. 2 is a glorified stunt with temporary tragedy which 3 will set right, after 3's legitimate tragedy.

Agreed in that both are very good and better than STID.
Nope. (Not to me anyway.) If I were going to just sit down and watch a TNG movie at random it would be Generations. Every time. Then MAYBE First Contact. The only time we watch INS or NEM is if we're watching them all or if we just watched GEN of FC kinda recently.

6 gets worse for me every year. It got worse for me while I was writing this post.
I completely agree, I have no desire to rewatch TNG films but I can watch the TOS films endlessly. Even TFF, although it is least watched of the bunch.
Would watch the TOS films and Kelvin films before the TNG films.
I find 09's flaws too annoying to rate it at the top, but what it does well it does very well indeed.
Beyond is as close to perfect as any Trek movie has ever come.
I think Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country is my favourite. Certainly with the original cast.
I more or less enjoy all the Trek movies.
But Insurrection is my favorite, hands down.
I love the beautiful ships, space (Briar Patch) and surface (Ba'ku) scenery. It's not about saving Earth. It gives me nostalgia because the Star Trek: Armada mission "Paradise Revisited" was one of my favorites in that game, too.
Plus, it fits into the wider 2370s tapestry - DS9 and VOY are going on and in their stride (Imho).
But Insurrection is my favorite, hands down.

I saw all the TNG films once about 18 years ago. I’ve no desire to watch any of them ever again and I doubt I ever will.

It is the nadir of cinematic Trek.

I think there are some aspects of the 2009-2016 films which I find stupid, jarring or too implausible which take me out of the film and drag those down for me.

Co-signed. I like *First Contact*, but *Federation* would been amazing on film.

To quote Cicero, you bet your bippy. Serious and controversial. I attest the only flaw in TSFS is its shorter running time.
TSFS is a good movie. A very good one. My least favorite of the first four but that's like calling sausage pizza "inferior" when the three other choices have even more and/or more interesting toppings.
TSFS is really good. I’d actually rate it higher than TWOK (and same for TVH for that matter). As Eddie says though, there’s much to like in those first four films and indeed in both V and VI.
Lest we forget, TSFS did what TMP and TWOK never did: have relevant scenes featuring Uhura and Sulu. (And none with Chekov, though to some that's not a detriment.) The three sequels after TSFS continued this trend.
TSFS deserves to be in the pantheon of good Trek movies solely on nothing more than Shatner's performace (yes, I know what I said) and "Stealing the Enterprise" by James Horner. And, of course, the destruction of the NCC-1701 herself.
