Things that frustrate us all

I have figured out one thing today--when Crazy Sister started spinning out and getting all manic, I asked her about herself-- how she was coping. She stopped freaking out and told me all her problems. Then she was a lot more reasonable & rational. For today, anyway. She is very manipulative, has a ton of mental & emotional problems and takes it out on all of us. I think she can't handle not being in control or not being the center of attention.

So if I can't get her to back off, giving her the attention she wants will redirect her to something or someone else

In theory.

Here's the thing: you first have to regard someone's rights as important as your own.

Those who steal generally don't. It's an in the moment, I want and must have it now, type emotional response. Period. Thinking about another person didn't enter in to the mindset.
I just can't think like that. I guess I just have to much empathy.

My mother gives her kids so much advice she will inevitably give conflicting advice. For example, when you're cooking rice make extra so you can have some for tomorrow. Now she's sharing news about how day-old rice is bad for you.

Rice is tough because it needs to be refrigerated faster than most foods, so many people can get sick from it being stored improperly.

I might have to try that with my sister.

Sounds like she doesn't know how to regulate those emotions without an external support.

Probably so. I try not to really believe much that she says, one way or another. She's always been very manipulative and narcissistic. Nice one day and then attacking you the next. She's been to multiple therapists but always leaves because she won't listen to them. But she's very good looking, so there's always people around her. She's been a pretty horrible human being, to be honest. If I never saw her again, I'd be totally fine with that.

Interesting. I could do a whole response on possible reasons why, but I will not.

Instead, I think you are doing your best to set healthy boundaries and need to be consistent with that.

So, I'm sick with Covid. I'm sure my son brought it home from work. I had to cancel a doctor appt at the last minute.

We had some damn gala evernt at my store today. (Who the hell holds a "grand reopening" in a store that DOES NOT CLOSE?!?) Lots of corporate bigwigs around. And a guy in a bear costume. :wtf:

I'm surprised I got through the whole day without bashing my head against a wall.

Maybe you didn't. Maybe you smashed your head against the wall so hard that all of this is a construct of your damaged brain. Which would explain the bear suit. You're really in a coma in a hospital, dreaming of me writing to you.

Don't wake up, @Mr. Laser Beam , don't wake up. I don't want to die.

I suppose that's a bit like those stores in the UK that make a big thing about announcing their big sale but in actual fact they spend 365 days a year with their biggest ever sale advertised. DFS and Oak Furniture Land I'm looking at you.

So I called OnStar yesterday to cancel the upcoming membership for my truck. (The trial period ends in a couple days.) I asked the guy on the phone if they could send me an email confirmation of the cancellation, and he said if it doesn't appear in your email (which it didn't) they should send it in regular mail. I don't trust places to have something canceled without a confirmation, so I got the cancellation confirmation number from him.

Today I get an email from OnStar... asking to complete a survey on my recent call.

So you can email me a survey that will not be looked at, but you can't email me a cancellation confirmation number? Really? Really?!

Obviously, they are hoping to charge my card and thinking I would forget and at least get that first charge from me.

The Ferengi really knew what they were talking about...
