Things that frustrate us all

What's frustrating is that he pulled the nail out. I think any other person who sees an object embedded in the tire would leave it in and, if it's not losing air, drive to the nearest repair facility and have it evaluated. By taking the nail out and driving on it, he made the situation worse. What normally would have cost him $24.99, ended up costing over $250. Which is fine for the store's EOD, but bad for his pocketbook.

But that's the thing. Logically speaking, how can being connected to the internet help a coffee machine make better coffee? What, specifically, does it need from the internet in order to do that? That's what I don't get.

From what I gathered… recipe data, basically.

It would ‘read’ some coding on the particular K-Cup put in the machine, then run off to the Internet to read (and use) whatever the recommended settings for water temp, etc. were/are for that specific blend.

Cheers,
-CM-

People don't think.

When I ran over a thorn on my bike a couple months ago, I pulled it out, thinking it was tiny and hadn't done any real damage, but once I saw how thick it was and heard the hissing, I stuck it back in.
Speaking of my bike, some fucking asshole stole it while I was out on my afternoon/evening bike ride about an hour ago. I leave it in empty church parking lot next to where I visit some horses, I'm close by, and the parking lot is disserted when I stop, so I haven't been locking it up. I can see it from where I pet the horses, and I can hear most of the people who walk or drive by, so I had assumed I'd notice if someone was going to try to steal it, but I guess I was wrong. I had been petting the horses and when I turned around and started to walk back to where I had parked it, it was gone. I had even just looked back at just a few minutes before that, so whoever took it, was very fast, and very quiet. It's only a $200 bike, so it's not worth reporting it. Now, I feel like an idiot for not locking it up.

That sucks! I'm sorry to hear it.

I'm sorry this happened to you, JD. :(

My neighbor 2 doors away has a dog who barks for hours. He goes nuts when he can see us in our yard and even when it's dark out, he still barks a LOT.

I have a cold. I haven't had a cold since covid started as I wear a mask when I am out and around other people (Fpp2 on public transport, a "surgical" mask otherwise). Last week I was away and, so as not to embarrass the people I was with, I didn't wear a mask.

Now I have a cold and it's HORRIBLE. I can't breath and my chest hurts. And I have to travel again today.

I realise that I m being whiny but I'd forgotten what having a cold was like AND I'm annoyed with myself for having given in to peer pressure.

I'm unfortunately in the same situation. The people who live behind me apparently think they still live in the farm. They leave the dog outside all the time no matter what the weather is like. It barks so much that I only notice when it stops barking. They have no compassion for the dog or their neighbors.

I hope you feel better soon!

Left home yesterday to come stay with my 90 year old Mom. She fell on Saturday and is really bruised all to hell. Nothing broken but her knee is pretty swollen. ER sent her home and her doc is sending some meds. I'll pick them up tomorrow. Mom has already called about getting an in-home visiting healthcare worker.

Oldest sister lives literally 5 mins away and my niece lives IN MOM'S HOUSE, but neither of them is doing much for her. I'm losing work I absolutely cannot afford to miss. But here I am. Drove 3 1/2 hours on bald tires to take care of my Mom. Can't even work from her office because I need to help her get in and out of bed, get to the bathroom, get lunch, give her pills etc, and tomorrow I go pick up her new meds. My job requires constant attention to the work and rapid responses to questions, so I just have to give up the shift and take the loss

One good thing: I got Mom to use her walker again. She keeps tripping over the transition trim on her floors. She has three different types of flooring and each side has that piece of wood trim; even her open kitchen has it, because it has tile floor and the living room has wood floors. With her walker, she has to move more deliberately and it also gives her something to help her balance.

I will stay until Sunday. Then I have to get home so I can get back to my home office and get back to work.

I'm sorry it's all on you and your family won't help.

I'm still kinda pissed about my bike, I really miss going on my bike rides, they were my big way to get exercise and helped me get out of the house for a while. My mom and I did walk to where some of the horses I visit are, so I have gotten to see some of them.
The situation also got me thinking about the fact that I'll never understand the thought behind stealing things from other people. I can kind of see where people could find it easier to excuse if they're shoplifting since you're stealing from a store and not something that belongs to an individual. Not to say that makes it OK, it's obviously still just as wrong, I can see where some people could feel that way. But to steal something from a person who is standing less than 100 feet away is a lot more personal. It's also pretty brave since it was mostly open between where I was and where my bike was, so I could have very easily turned around and seen them. I really am kind of impressed by the thief's stealth and speed since they did it with me so close and the parking lot is pretty big so they would have had to have crossed a fair amount of space without me seeing or hearing anything.

Here's the thing: you first have to regard someone's rights as important as your own.

Those who steal generally don't. It's an in the moment, I want and must have it now, type emotional response. Period. Thinking about another person didn't enter in to the mindset.
