Star Trek: Starships Model/Magazine Subscription

Master Replicas sent me a QMX badge today that I never ordered. I'm not sure if it's a gift, or a promotional offer I didn't know about, or just a mistake? At least I didn't have to pay the usual import fees, possibly because according to the customs declaration on the envelope its value is just 0.99 GBP...

I got my first order from Master Replicas yesterday--the SS Raven, a little ship I personally liked--and truthfully, after reading all the posts here about how slow they can be, I really wasn't expecting it to arrive anytime soon. But I think I got lucky, because it only took about two months from my initial order in early December for the Raven to arrive at my doorstep in Saint Louis.

Looks like I missed a chance to get the standard sized Orville yesterday. I didn't check the site until hours after the drop. Hopefully, there will be another chance.

And now I have all four of them.
Also pictured: A highly accurate replica of the keyboard used by the VFX artists for that scene.

I stumbled across a YouTube channel where the person had just received the last two variations and was unboxing them. I didn't realize how big they were until he took them out of the packaging.

Ah, shoot, I would have like that one too -- I've hovered over the XL occasionally but decided that I didn't really need a big ass one. I swear it wasn't originally in the list, but I haven't been particularly diligent the last month.

Yeah, honestly, I would have preferred if the newer lines had adhered to the regular Starship Collection size (with Specials for the huge ships/stations). I've ruminated before that might have actually been healthier for Eaglemoss as well, as I think more people would have picked up some of the less desirable ships if they were $25 instead of $50.

Yeah, I just can't bring myself to get an XL The only XL I have is the DS9 model, because that's what my local store had. (And I prefer this one, as it's comparable in size to the other stations and comes with a stand).

I don't really have room left for regular sized ships, much less XL's. The only two I'd consider getting are the Nebula and the Oberth, because they're different ships than the standard sized ones.

Interesting. Checking the tracking on my magazines via an exelot link I was also sent in addition to the USPS tracking, it looks like the magazines were shipped from Heathside and not MR.

I thought it was odd that they were coming in thru LA. In the past everything has come in via the East Coast.

I'd have been amazed if they picked anything else! There's a spot on my shelf reserved for the Enterprise-G.

Eaglemoss probably would have done a regular release and XL as the E-G and then an online or convention exclusive repaint as the Titan.

I do hope they release both versions for the completists out there but I’d only buy the E-G.

They posted two images of the Constitution III class and one Sagan class. Perhaps that can be interpreted as meaning Titan-A, Enterprise-G, Stargazer-A?

Interesting that Fanhome states that they’re essentially using the same bases as Eaglemoss so that things are compatible.

I presume they’ll just do a single size (I’m still not convinced that Eaglemoss wouldn’t have been better off sticking with the original collection size), presumably it will be similar to the Star Wars offerings, which I think are slightly bigger than the original starship scale, but not as big as the Specials/Disco/Uni stuff.

I was holding off until there were some more replies (I didn't want to be following my own post) but I got the D5 tanker last Friday and the magazines this week.

I was pleasantly surprised that there was no duty to pay for the model and they actually left it in the package box at my building. I wasn't so lucky with the magazines. Had to go to the post office and pay something for that one (I guess there's still some limit where you pay beyond that).

Not really anything to say about the magazines. I'm pleased that the number of models without magazines is much lower now. Sadly, the Planet Killer one was sold out by the time I bought it, and I ended up getting a mag for the tactical cube (which I don't have) to get it up to ten. Hope they offer that one soon.

The tanker looks very nice. Really looks very different from the cruiser. I don't even think they're in the same scale, based on the nacelles. The aztecking is good and really distinguishes it. The "neck" section is shorter and the wings are a different shape, too.

magazines showed up today. Thankfully they are all in English.

one downside is the mag I ordered for the 1701 is the XL edition so it’s one I already have.

But a good thing is that instead of just sending me the mag for the Galileo Shuttle, they sent me the 4 magazines from that whole shuttle set. So I got 3 extra mags.
