And not just hockey broadcasts either, but I find I'm seeing a lot more gambling related ads, either on TV in general or on Streaming, and I don't remember them being so pervasive in the past. I wonder if something in the regulations changed, but it's frankly both disturbing and disgusting to see so much of a push towards gambling. The worst part is that it's all promoted via the OLG. It feels like how cigarettes were advertised in the past.

it was the fact the online gambling was legalised across the country.

at least Ontario has taken action and the celebrity endorsements of online betting will be nixed at the end of the month.

Wouldn't be suprised if both rogers and bell have invested in the online gaming industry.

Yeah, it wouldn't surprise me either if they'd both invested in it. There's just so much of it and it's always so aggressive, as if they're trying to get people addicted. They're some of the flashiest commercials around. And that's not even counting the commercials for the big hotel & casinos I see plenty of.

It's Feb and there is no snow and it's above 0. The forecast is the same for the next two weeks. I've never had a winter like this. Forget early winter, all we've got is extended Autumn.

The last time winter was like this was the year of the Fort McMurray wildfire. That was also a warm, dry winter, and they started giving fire index warnings in February. Normally that doesn't start until April.

With the drought in southern Alberta, this is not going to be a good summer or fall.

I don't complain when it snows - we need every bit of it. And the recent -50 cold snap was good for killing pine beetles that would otherwise be merrily killing more trees in the national parks.

The problem is, it's not restricted to just sports gambling, but online gambling overall. It's just so pervasive of late. It seems that when the government legalized online gambling, they opened the floodgates.

One of the actors on L&O: Toronto (Kathleen Munroe) has already appeared in the L&O 'verse! She was in one episode of SVU and two episodes of OC. And in a couple of Chicago eps as well.

I don't know why I think that's so cool. But there we are.

srsly, I do love how actors tend to pop up on multiple L&O eps (and series) in different roles. Nice to see this extends across nations as well!

And I REALLY hope it doesn't take too long for L&O:TOR to be broadcast in the US.

I'm sorry to hear that. I know I've been (and continue to be) critical of the monarchy, but I wouldn't wish that on any person. I hope the treatment goes well and he can get to a place of recovery or remission.

From what I read, they said they don't anticipate this will affect his duties? (Even though it sounds like the medical advice was that he should be limiting his duties.) If the treatment goes well, it's possible he could still serve as king for many more years. (And regardless, those costs were coming at some point anyway...)

You'd think he did that just to inconvenience everyone.

Well, some life choices have been bad, admittedly. After all, how many in that family are smokers, or ones who quit? I don't have any sympathy in those cases.

Since one of his middle names is "Arthur", just get Colin Morgan to build one of those cute little funeral boats and send him off toward the Isle of the Blessed and set the thing on fire using his magic. It's probably quite a bit cheaper than a state funeral, with the added bonus of no modern religious service to get bogged down in.
