With Deborah Ann Woll and Elden Henson seen shooting 'Daredevil' today it's both crazy that they ever thought to make the series without them and crazy that they've scrapped multiple shot episodes to bring them back.

Also spotted
Alaqua Cox and whoever's playing the White Tiger.
I'm glad to get concrete proof they're back.

Yes, but part of the great success of the original show was trio of Cox, Woll, and Henson. They gave the necessary balance for Matt and that's why it feels unfathomable to bring back Cox and not them, too.

Beh, maybe these other characters being introduced will fill in that void.

Out of all the Netflix MCU series, Daredevil had the best supporting cast and, other than Colleen and Misty, the only ones I really want to see return to the MCU.

Forgive me, I don't want to search through hundreds of pages of threads: were Woll and Henson not present in the first version of Born Again due to scheduling problems or was it a specific choice?

We don't really know. That hasn't been made public; however, it seems as if the original plans were to have an entirely new take on the character (at least something post the original series where Foggy and Karen were no longer a part of Matt's life). Then, when Disney starter revamping its production structure, Foggy and Karen were back in the picture.

How can something be "unfathomable" when having no Karen as a status quo was fathomed a generation ago and continues with great success to this day?
Bring on Kirsten McDuffie, the WAY more fun and interesting female lead.

I actually miss Curtis-Hall as Urich from the show. He was amazing. Woll and Henson were the weakest links of the series.

I googled a little bit and I found an old interview to Woll where she was asked why she didn't appear in Born Again and she answered that they hadn't called her. So I go for "artistic choice". (The sad alternative would be they tried so save few bucks).

I suspect their intent was to be ambiguous about it, to make something that could've been assumed to be a continuation of the Netflix series without overtly referencing it, like the Arrowverse's revival of John Constantine vis-a-vis his NBC series. Although it might've been more like the 2008 The Incredible Hulk vis-a-vis Ang Lee's Hulk, in that it superficially seemed like it could be a continuation but contradicted it if you looked more closely.

Don't forget Claire. She started with Daredevil but she was vital in Luke Cage.

Go back and read what I said again. I said it was unfathomable for Woll and Henson because their chemistry with Cox was a major reason that show worked so well.

Yeah, it was a shame he was killed off so early because Vondie Curtis-Hall was excellent in that role.

Same argument applies. They were the least interesting parts of the show and any number of actors or characters replacing them could be an improvement.

Cox and D'Onofrio are why the show worked so well. Henson actually made me miss Favreau as Foggy.

Nah. Elektra was the least interesting part of the show. The "Avocados at Law" were the very heart and soul of the show.

There was also a storyline where J Jonah Jameson was Mayor of NYC for a while, while Norman Osborn was in charge of the SHIELD replacement group.

Of course, Fisk as Mayor is at the same time that General Ross is now President so it's a similar thing.

To put this into perspective, Karen Page died in an issue of Daredevil that came out when I was 8 years old (Daredevil Vol. 2 Issue #5, Dated January 1999), so to me she is no more part of Daredevil's consistent mythos then, say, Julie Madison is to Batman's. Now some characters can die and stay important, like Gwen Stacy with Spider-Man, but I'd argue that Karen Page did not have much post death staying power, she certainly wasn't brought up much when I started getting into comics regularly in the mid 2000s, and she obviously wasn't a part of the Affleck Daredevil movie. Honestly, if she hadn't died in such a dramatic way (and after getting put through the ringer by several writers) I don't know if I'd have even heard about the character before the Netflix show started.

This isn't to say that the Karen Page character from the Daredevil show is bad or unnecessary, just that the character of Daredevil in general easily exists without her.

Least interesting recurring characters, probably, but if I could eliminate/recast one character from the show it would be Elektra, who was easily the worst part of season 2 and totally missed the point of the character by being basically a bloodlust obsessed serial killer.

Ahh, who'd ever believe that a New York City businessman with known ties to organized crime and an inability to control his temper would have a chance of getting anywhere in politics? It's like something out of a comic book, I tells ya.
