Hockey Talk - 2007-2008 Season

Flames are all over the map. It is frighteningly painful to think that we could be golfing in a few weeks, and I'm quite glad we got the win last night, especially against a division rival.
Well, it's not like they wont have the company of LA :p

Sharks finally beat the Ducks at the tank. What a win, and even if the score didn't show it, what a domination put on by San Jose tonight. Holding the Ducks shotless in the 3rd period was unreal and the game winning goal by Roenick, again, was pretty. They needed to capitalize on the 5-3 and they did.

Kind of wish there were more west coast hockey fans. It almost seems like we have a mirror image of what's going on in the NBA going on in the NHL. The east is not all that terrific, and while we're all here talking about Toronto and Toskala letting in a goal from 197 ft, we have a hell of playoff storylines going on in the west, especially the northwest division. Getting a little closer to home, this was a big win for San Jose. They pretty much control their destiny now in terms of wrapping up the Pacific but I want to know if they have enough umph to catch up with Detroit. I doubt it, but it's nice to get a little greedy. Still, watch out for the Sharks. I'm getting a great vibe from them and how they are playing right now makes me think that the curse of beating Nashville and then choking in the second round might be coming to an end.

^ Yeah, the Northwest division is crazy. It just sucks the Canucks couldn't beat the Wild last night. :( But they've been playing better lately, so I'm hoping they can still get the division title in the end.

One of my happiest moments recently* was hearing the TSN guys pronounce that Van could stop looking back and start looking ahead in the ratings. Might have been a tad optimistic, but I'll take it. Wish it wasn't at the expense of the stalled Predators, though.

* Yes, my life has been grim enough lately for a TSN broadcast to count as a recent happy moment ... :)

Man the Leafs are breaking my heart. Why do they always play like an actual hockey team when they're all but mathematically eliminated? This game Vs. Ottawa is sweet!

Well, fuck.

Oh well. Fun game to watch.

(After the horn sounded, all but two players on the ice got into a brawl. Spezza and one of the Leafs (whoever #31 is) just stood there watching. That amused me.)

Maybe this is a sign that maybe Toronto isnt the right team for you :p The darkside isnt a good fit for everyone ya know :p

So, apparently, NHL games are going to be available online at Hulu.com, but not for Canadians.

What a great business practice! Eliminate half your audience right from the start!

I had a great show in Pittsburgh this weekend. I got to watch the implosion of the old hospital across the street from Mellon Arena to make way for a new arena, followed by the Devils likewise imploding in a 7-1 whipping from the Pens. :D

I've got a good feeling about my Caps making the playoffs. They've come so far from earlier in the season when they were cellar dwellers.

^

They're playing well, but Philly isn't, so I share your feeling about the Caps ... Ovechkin, meet the play-offs. I'm sure you'll get along famously.

Sharks lost tonight but they still managed to pull out a point. I don't think it was deserved, but a point is still a point, even if the rule is stupid. They can't win them all.

Nuck go up 2-0 on Calgary and then get fucking dominated for the last 40 minutes of the game and lose 3-2. It was absolutely brutal. The only thing worse than the way they played is this hangover.

Last night's win over the Canucks was nothing short of glorious!

It's all in the point of view. :(

Some of us think any success for Mike Keenan is a sign of society's impending collapse, but some people are less choosy about their ethics ...

so I guess the hair of the dog isn't treating you well tonight, then?

6-3 loss to the Avs. The Forsberg-Stastny_Hedjuk line was incredible tonight
