What are you watching???

Kid Sister.

NZ sitcom about a Jewish 20-something loser with an unwanted pregnancy.

This week the heroine's fiance, half-way through conversion, was learning about Shabbat, the holy day when they can't use technology, and it was all rather trying as the two worst Jews in the world try to observe orthodox measures.

I'm watching them...

This is set in modern day?

Um?

What about Alexa?

Google? Yup, the Chosen People are allowed to use Alexa on Shabbot, which can control the lights, curtains, all media, order take out, and maybe even doors and windows, if you buy a few hundred dollars worth of complimentary servo brackets to kit your home as religion proof.

Oh! They are poor.

Poor and dumb, since a good phone from ten years ago can respond to simple voice commands.

Although the word "indirect" was used to justify Alexa turning your Lights or flatscreen on and off, so verbally turning your phone's music on and off may not be kosher.
