Spotted on the shipping information page for a UK-based company:
What... what witchcraft is this?! Are we not considered part of the
world?!
Canada and South America together make up a not-insignificantly-sized landmass. If that percentage of the planet could take up to 4 weeks, wouldn't it just make more sense to list "Worldwide" as "2 - 4 weeks" and leave it at that?
Also, can anyone explain why the red line takes a week longer than the blue line (and usually costs double or more, to boot!)? OK, yes, sometimes the international deliveries go to Mississauga instead of Montréal, but that only raised the distance to 5730 km. And I actually have no idea if New York is actually the receiving hub, I just used it as an example. If it is actually further inland, then it would be a longer distance too.
(OK, yes, before someone points it out, I know I oversimplified by only counting the shipping to the import hub. The page actually says time to
delivery, which will be affected by how long the package waits in customs, and whoever does the domestic delivery in the destination country. But reading about shipping woes from Americans online, I don't think we have it any particularly worse than they do in that aspect.)
I guess I should be thankful they even ship here. Some companies are OK with the blue line, but can't even be bothered with the red line. I live 1 hour from the US border, and some companies won't ship to me at all, but one hour away on the opposite side of the imaginary line? No problem!
