DC Cinematic Universe ( The James Gunn era)

And in a way that writers can't seem to grasp either since she tends to get in trouble due to stupid decisions usually.
Reckless decisions, maybe. But Lois Lane, properly written, should never come off as stupid.
Whip-smart means question the smartness and you gets the whip!
Clark should be so lucky.

I think even the most die hard fan would say that DC movies have seen better days. What do you think the first Gunn era movie has to do to reverse trends? Or does it just have to be a good movie?

I hope that Lois is as smart as Amy Adams Lois Lane
@TREK_GOD_1 may never say this, but i think most critics of the DCFU will at least say that Amy Adams was great in her role, and the writing on her end pretty much supported that.
To me, she had that right balance of grit and compassion to plausibly be a love interest for SUperman

I think it needs to show enough respect for what came before to show that the makers love Superman as a whole, but then create enough new stuff to let newer fans also embrace it. I think B v S and the solo movie did that for Wonder WOman, or the first season for CW TV Flash (maybe more than was :needed" for FLash)

Adams's Lois was consistently the single best thing about Snyder's DC movies, and was my favorite screen version of the character till Bitsie Tulloch came along to edge her from the top spot.

Lois has fared extremely well in live-action in recent years, and I'm very hopeful and optimistic that Brosnahan will continue that trend.

Indeed because new and casual fans will be put off by feeling the weight of all this history in this franchise. I hope this can do it.

It's as if they are portraying this couple as complimentary in strengths and weaknesses.

Brains and brawn are a common combination. This is bad now?

No, its not bad. Although Clark is supposed to be intellectually above most (depending on the source and era of said source), Lois has been portrayed as seriously intelligent, world-wise and fairly street smart, certainly more than Clark, as that latter distinction is not normally one of Clark's strengths.

Superman & Lois has done an excellent job of portraying Lois as an equal to Superman. No, she's not rescuing him from super-powered villains, but in intellectual and emotional support, they're equal in a way that I don't feel has been shown on screen between those characters before. Hopefully that's where we're going in the Gunnverse versions.

Yeah, Superman & Lois pretty much a perfect example of how to write a version modern Lois and her relationship with Clark/Superman. Modern versions of Lois really needs to be an smart, tough, capable woman, who can be a true partner for Clark and Superman. Obviously she can't stand with him in a fight against a super powered villain, but she should be able to in pretty much every other way.
The days of Lois as the damsel in distress who constantly needs to be saved by Superman.

Wow, Superman has some really weird kinks.

It will be interesting how they show the Daily Planet - as an updated attempt to replicate reality or just another fantasy newsroom?

Rachel Brosnahan red carpet interview at the Golden Globes last night. She talks a little about Superman: Legacy starting at about 0:45.

Gunn on why Tom King is part of his DCU inner circle/brain trust:
Q: What do you see in Tom king? People hate his guts

Gunn: He’s an amazing writer and a nice guy. He’s written at least four of the best runs over the last few years (Miracle, Strange, WoT, and Human Target). The problem with being successful in the internet age - and he’s one of the most successful current comic book writers by any metric - is that there will always be a group of people who hate your guts.
:techman:

Yeah, it's frakking amazing, right?

I've read -- and loved -- two of the four specific titles Gunn cites, and I recently purchased the other two (Strange Adventures and Mister Miracle). Expecting more awesome stuff.

All 4 of those are amazing. Mister Miracle probably being my favourite.
If you don't mind dipping into Marvel, his "Vision" mini was equally good.
