DC Cinematic Universe ( The James Gunn era)

I think during the marketing tour for GotG 3, Klementieff mentioned something about wanting to play one specific DC character, though she didn't want to say which.

Surprisingly, THR apparently got it dead wrong on Klementieff (notably, Gunn doesn't debunk Shor):

The "X" post won't load for me for some reason (probably because Elon Musk can go fuck himself), but if it's the same thing Gunn posted on Threads, the Shor denial is a little less strong and categorical than the Klementieff one (and I see THR has revised its story to eliminate Klementieff and to say Shor is only in "early talks").
Q: So Is it true that Miriam Shor has been cast as the head of the CIA in SUPERMAN: LEGACY?
Gunn: No it is not. I’d like to find a place for Miriam in the DCU, maybe even in Legacy, but she isn’t presently cast in anything.
"Isn't presently cast" could just mean she hasn't been officially signed.

Not that I wanted him back in the role (nor do I think James Gunn did either)...but still:
:guffaw:

Variety: George Clooney Says There’s ‘Not Enough Drugs in the World’ to Get Him to Play Batman Again, Even After ‘The Flash’ Cameo
https://variety.com/2023/film/news/george-clooney-refuses-batman-movies-the-flash-cameo-1235844045/
George Clooney turned up as Bruce Wayne in the final moments of “The Flash,” but in no way does that mean he’s interested in playing Batman again. Speaking to Entertainment Tonight while promoting his latest directorial effort “The Boys in the Boat,” Clooney said the chances of him playing Batman again are less than slim to none.

“I do not think there’s enough drugs in the world for me to go back,” Clooney said bluntly...

Now he needs to play a small cameo as a version of himself snorting lines of coke while dressed in a bad homemade Batman costume at a Halloween party.

Or not.

On his Threads account, Gunn expanded a bit on comics writer Tom King's role with regard to the DCU, both in the context of the film adaptation of King's brilliant Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow and more generally:
Q: Is there any truth to the rumors that Tom King is working with you on developing the Supergirl film? And if so, are there any other of his acclaimed books/runs you'd consider collaborating with him to bring to the DCU?

Gunn: Tom is an integral part of the DCU, not just WoT. He’s one of the first people I showed the Superman script, asking for notes. He’s included in various ways in numerous other projects, including WoT. And, yes.
This all great news by me, since I think King is the best writer working in mainstream comics today. I particularly like that Gunn says adaptations of other King books are possible. As I detailed recently in another thread, King's Human Target series is incredible, very nearly as good as WoT, and would make for an excellent live-action film or limited-run TV series. (And Gunn just called HT probably his favorite comic of 2023, which would seem to up its adaptation prospects considerably.)

That's fantastic! I was pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed Human Target since I'm not generally a film noir fan, but it really worked for me, as has most (but not all) of his work. Having King as part of the inner circle is amazing news.

No word of a lie, Batman/Elmer Fudd is somehow one of my most favourite books ever. It shouldn't have worked. But it did.
