It’s like the 2005 mated with the 96 version.
I do find it odd how the older it gets, the less modern it gets in terms of it used to be essentially a piece of Music Concrete Electronica, right at the cutting edge, and now it’s something made with orchestra and voice.

That was a tremendous amount of fun to watch. Not surprising Jodie wasn't on set for it but I love David for texting with her the whole time so she could feel like she was part of the experience. :D

^^So he is the 14th doctor, right from the horses mouth so to speak.
Yeah, but he also lies (but not as much as Moffat...).

But, honestly, I do believe him here. The fact he specifically mentioned the idea of a trickster manipulating the regeneration is right on the nose what we've been theorizing, so I suspect it'll be something different. After all,, this is the same guy who already messed around with the regeneration count with the Metacrisis Doctor (even though I'm still not a big fan of that, but I've learned to live with it).

Well, TBF, it was Moffatt who chose to use the "Metacrisis counted" to up the drama of "I'm on my final life" for Smith's last story. It would have been equally feasible to handwave it away as "Metacrisis didn't count because it was a unique set of circumstances that would never recur".

The Metacrisis was a dumb idea in the first place. Why doesn't the Doctor always just regenerate into their self if that's possible? As an idea it's there for a shock "OMG there's a secret regeneration!" which loses it's power once you realise that no, there really isn't, and to create a second version of the 10th Doctor to give Rose a happy ending, and don't get me started on RTD's weird understanding of happy endings. Lost your dad? Here have a vague copy of him. Lost the man you loved, here, have a vague copy of him. (possibly even worse with Donna- lost your entire personality, have a lottery win- and Jack- grandson dead, have a shag and it'll all seem better)

Conversely, many people (myself included) have noted the many influences Doctor Who had on Loki, particularly the first season. (Also, I never saw Davies supposedly criticize the show)

Either way, this is excellent news and I'm very excited to see what she brings to the show.

And you can even go back to "Metacrisis didn't count" and figure the Doctor erroneously concluded it did because he couldn't think of anything else to account for why he was unexpectedly out of regenerations since he didn't remember being the Fugitive Doctor (if you put her in between the Second and Third incarnations).

He called the blink and you'll miss it reference to Loki's bisexuality “a ridiculous, craven, feeble gesture”.

Ah, I do recall that but, like Tuskin noted, that's only a small aspect of the show. A fair criticism (and one I agree with although I wouldn't call it craven), but hardly something to stop Davies from liking the show overall.

It's all set in stone until it isn't.

Or, you know, wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey. ;)
