I mean, as a bland dad I have to say that it gives me a little bit of hope.

So, I guess mileage will vary.

No one is as bland as Hawkeye. The guy is a pain to watch

Damn right. I've always loved archery so I'm more than willing to suspend disbelief for Clint, Kate, and everyone else.

But they never do anything interesting with their archery. If I want that I'll go to Legolas

Well its your choice
Well, it comes down to what one values. "Bland" is not something I find particularly bad. Bland is something that I enjoy. The ups and downs of life are ones that have a lot of bland, and I welcome that, even in my comic book stories.

Hawkeye is someone that I always found just enjoyable. Not super, not awesome but just fun enough to keep me hooked.

I know we just did this loop, but I loved Hawkeye and I know I'm know I'm not the only one who loved it. Both for Clint's character (as well as Kate's) and for the archery.

I'm sorry you find him boring but clearly a lot of people don't. That's okay.

I know people. I just don't myself and find him to represent some of what's wrong with the mcu

I guess I don't think he has enough to be enjoyable. Bland is among the worst things a character can be. And his storylines are so generic and underdeveloped. Saying "Budapest" several times isn't a backstory and having an instant family isn't a personality imo

Fair.

I think annoying is worse. Far, far worse.

Sorry, having a family is very much something that hits very close to home for me. So, Clint as a dad works easily for me. That's just my own thing.

And archery. I love archery.

.

Well I find him annoying too. Along with Kate and Yelena

I understand. But imo that's why we have Scott Lang. And personally I can relate to a god being like Thor more than I can to Hawkeye since the former actually has an interesting emotional journey

If a family just exists to die so hero becomes a generic murderous vigilante, to me they're juat a plot device and a cliche one at that. I dislike that kind of hero and their black and white thinking.

I was never the biggest fan of the character, which is why it kinda surprised me how much I loved the show, and that wasn't just down to Kate and Yelena either.

For me the show was just too generic, and I don't think it improved Clint whatsoever. And watching the Netflix shows just made it worse in comparison

Again, fair.

I like all three.

Scott is annoying, his powers completely bizarre and he is not enjoyable.

Thor is interesting. I enjoyhis story, to a point, until Infinity War. Its not a competition.

Ok.

Black and white thinking feels very par for the course in comic book properties. So, it bothers me very little.

A family is a family.

Scott > all powerless agents. I don't find him annoying. At least he doesnt have a bad russian accent. I'll take a guy who can change size over some medieval weapon beating advanced aliens

And comics are definitely capable of more than black and white thinking. That's not Hawkeye's issue. His issue is being a kill all criminals type generic death wish vigilante

If his family had more than that I'd care about them

I never thought Clint Barton was bland or boring - just underused. I thought Kate would end up being the one to carry "Hawkeye". But I was happily surprised to see that the series did Clint justice. And both Jeremy Renner and Hailee Steinfeld had great chemistry.

I guess Clint's "blandness" is part of what I like about him, he's not a billionaire with a suit of armor, or a god, or a guy who turns into a rage monster, he's just normal guy who happens to be good at archery and that's what I like about him.
